Btw, what is on that record inside the cover above? :D
Well, glad you got that out of your system then!

The above is artwork, not a record. Von would probably release the hounds, sorry : his lawyers (or worse : both) on me if I'd ever release it and charged a fee for it, even if by Belgian copyright law I don't need his or Adam's permission to cover those two songs rolled into one, as long as I don't mess with their credits.

You think so?
Don't you know about those "pretty" vinyls in online auction markets, titled "Suzanne", "Romeo Down", "Summer" ...
Well ok, it's all Sisters live material, as far as I gather, yeah gather, for they are way to expensive for me to buy ...  ...
and also Heaven knows, who is behind ... however, they are from Greece, anyway.

But stop! Did you say you did a cover of Never Land? ... ;D  ...

Not sure which of your posts to reply to first. ;D

Hmmm, well, there might be vinyls out anaw that, I'm not gonna take my chances. It's out there on the Internets now, free to listen to, but not downloadable, in a freshly updated mix (which will have oor deer James cry havok, as he hates updated mixes ) that's a lot more powerful (and to satisfy James, also has mair bass ;D) than the 2006 version that has been referred to on various TSOM cover song threads here over the years.

I didn't do a cover of Never Land, but seeing as James - who used a cattle prod to force my membership of this fine board upon me after hearing the original demo - loves that song to bits, especially the Full Length version and was coming all the way from Glasgow to Leuven, Belgium to see our very first gig, I added a part of that song/version to 'Summer' as a 'thankee' to him. Hence 'Never Summer Land', as it's been called since.

There's a video on Youtube of the first (and at the same time last) time we played it live. James, Big Si, Claire, IZ, Koen, Zed, Christophe and more HL'ers can be seen taking position stage left (on the right from the audience's point of view), and it was dedicated to Debs aka Mme Butterfly, who couldn't attend due to a recent tragedy.

That's the story. You may wake up now... ;D

 ... wake up? For a search, I guess ... so here...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgmABKIkRFg ... wow, that's great.
I already liked the vid I saw on that other pretty site.
Yeah, you bring out some aspect of the song very straight and directly. Congrats! Great music hall, it rocks... I like it rock ... ;D ...

Btw, James is actually the only person one can clearly discern among the crowd,
and of course, the lady who is with him ... ok, I also get a faint whit of Claire ...
I know what they look like since I've met them this year at one or other Sisters gig ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uYXLa9- ... re=related ... is this the old mix?
Anyway, I can't but - for once (hell, how did I get there) agree with James: it comes out way better live ...
I think, as a recorded version, I'd definitely prefer Andrew's way to sing it ... more open, even in the worst ...

I love Summer, anyway - the guitar line so sweet, the lyrics so bitter ...
and also Never Land (the full length version as much as a fragment).
A combination of a song with the full lenth version is stunning, though ... as I've just learned ... ...

Anyway, thanks for telling me the story of that event (and sorry for MB for whatever it was she had to suffer).
I'm here only since 2009 and have (of course) not read through the whole forum beforehand.
During some very long, very cold and partly rainy hours in the backyards of some venue,
I decided that if Eldritch won't be able to get things done in a normal and direct way*,
I gotta get my message across otherwise ... even alongside the whole world, if necessary ...  ...

*unfortunately, I'm not better (or maybe even worse) than him in that respect ... :urff:  ... but I think, I've said what I had to by now (mostly).

- apart from the fact of having struggled myself through various eras and dimensions of destruction
and punishment all alone ...  ... but now I'm here ... ... and it's upon you to do with that ... ...

Anyway. I'm a nice person, mostly ... ... and relatively busy with making something real from this wreck ... ...

Well, it IS a goff gig, after all, so darkness and limited vision is to be expected. But rest assured, all the others were there. ;)

That is an old mix, yes. Not the 2006 one, though, because Never Land wasn't yet tagged on there then. I think I just chucked the CD with the original version out of the compartment in my car while cleaning today. Had a listen to it, and deemed it rather flat compared to the 2011 version.

I disagree with the fact it sounds better live. The Ahráyeph version, that is. Maybe somewhere down the line (IF we ever decide to play it again), but definitely not back in 2007. The 2011 studio mix is definitely superior to what you've witnessed on Youtube. Of course Andrew's voice would totally change the dynamic. He's invited to send in a vocal if he so wishes... ;D

Thanks. :) I love 'Summer' too. That's the whole reason I decided to record it, after growing tired of hearing it on crap sounding bootlegs. "If they won't, I will", was the idea. Just to have a decent version of it for myself. Then James threw a spanner in the works and it's taken on a life of its own since it got its public debut here.

Anyway, thanks for telling me the story of that event (and sorry for MB for whatever it was she had to suffer).

Back in 2006, I was a total n00b here too. We all were at one point, except for The Boss Man himself. ;)

Normalcy is overrated anyway. By now I'm sure you've become aware you've joined a veritable freak show of lovable nutters and some less desirable characters (depending on who you ask ;D ), which is as good and bad a representation of humanity as anything 'out there'. It's why I keep coming back in leaps and bounds, I gues.

All those great new Sisters songs should be taken on by other bands for covers. So thanks to James (who had ever known, he could be such a nice guy ... ) for supporting your endeavour. I think it was really necessary for you to do it and you did it nicely.

You know that Far Parade version from Prescott's The Brothers of Tyranny? Lovely as well... should be somewhere in the Sharing Section ...

Time for new music, even if it's not my own. Sophia's 'Leaving', with an added part of The God Machine's 'Boy By The Roadside' at the tail end for good measure, all yours for one measly Euro. The artwork was kept sober to reflect the sparseness and bleakness of the song. Recorded with Robin Proper-Sheppard's permission. It's dark. So dark it scares even me. Seriously, you should own this...

Now that you mention that gig, does NFD still exist? Never really liked their albums, but their gig was also great!

I think they still do as I ran into an article pretty recently. Did not read it though and neither do I follow the band! Not bad that night indeed.

Well, Pat & Koen, it's not NFD. Last I heard they are on hiatus. I could ask Luca, their drummer, as he's a FB pal of mine. He has been playing mostly with Lahannya lately, though, as did Chris Milden, NFD's other guitar player, while James went back to Cradle OF Filth. That's what I know from last year.

I can't say anything about the other bands on Porta Nigra's bill, because it's up to the organisation to announce them. But there's some real cool names on it. The only other band I know have already been confirmed are the German wave band In My Rosary, but the big names have yet to be revealed...
