[Turpin's parents] described the family as extremely religious and said the parents had so many children because they believed “God called on them to do so. They added that the children were expected to memorise long Bible passages as part of “very strict homeschooling.

they are cunts for doing this. they want anyone they can squeeze a few pennies out of -people who run any sort of business and use FB to advertise- to pay for their "services". i know a few people (semi-professionals mostly, models and the like) who will be really badly hit by this.

For anyone wondering where to go on their holidays, this article may be of interest. I used to pay about 30 quid for an eighth, if memory serves, but one year we pooled our student loans an bought a pound for 1000. Fun times.

It says Leeds' price is £5.37 a gram? I'm guessing that's for crap soapbar. You're not going to get much change from a tenner a gram for decent bud.

*ahem* or so I hear.

It probably depends on how long the NRA are to be allowed to block any sort of move on gun control & given they donate vast sums of money to those in power, that's not going to be any time soon :|

I remember when school shootings were rare and shocking enough that people would write protest songs in response (I Don't Like Mondays).

This one in Florida was the eigtheenth school shooting this year (but "only" the sixth in which people were killed or injured).

From the article you linked
Since 2013, there have been 291 reported school shootings in America, which averages out to about one per week.

I'm reading a few threads on Fark (a predominantly American populated site) & the diverse opinions on the whole control thing are (for me) startling.
There's a debate now about whether or not the NRA should be banned from giving donations to congress, but the sticking point seems to be that the SCOTUS ruled that political donations were classified as free speech in 1976 & so banning them would be in violation of the constitution.
So, effectively, politicians are paid to promote the opinions of lobbyists & not of those people they are elected to actually serve.
One commenter suggested that politicians should wear patches of their sponsors' names/ logos just like race car drivers, football players, etc so that people could see exactly who was backing them.

Oh this is nice. Florida Shooter Part of White Supremacist Militia because of course he was. So how come this isn't being splashed all over the press as a domestic terror attack?

Oh of course, sorry, I forgot. In the USA you're only a terrorist if your skin is brown.

This s**t makes me so f**king angry and so f**king sad. Lobbying is a broken system. Private/business interests having so much sway over policy is bull-s**t. The NRA's brainwashing campaign is bull-s**t. It seems like the word that fits these politicians is corrupt and not enough people are using it. I don't know why I should be surprised. We live in a malevolent oligarchy. The only ray of light I can see is the rage of teenage, near voter-age young people.

Markfiend: I think the Southern Poverty Law Center released a statement that they couldn't confirm a link between ROF and Cruz. Perhaps this is like IS taking credit for any and all acts of terror?
