Re-run of currently watching
Maybe it's hard to believe, but this weekend for the first time i've watched Trainspotting and I've found amusing, funny as sad. Nevertheless very good movie.
The second one's good too.Bartek wrote:Maybe it's hard to believe, but this weekend for the first time i've watched Trainspotting and I've found amusing, funny as sad. Nevertheless very good movie.
I actually cried when the Choose Life speech happened.
It's fascinating that, when it comes to movie with status cult (which doesn't mean that it has/had commercial success at the time of debut in cinema), there's almost exclusively one that factor - sad one of the main in scope of emotions that such work stirs.
In Trainspotting there's nothing that could be called silver lining, there's no happy end, life of every main character was shaterred, even the decent life, however true, it's so ... true.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

We just watched The Night Manager on amazon Prime. Very good if you like spy stuff.

Aye that got big reviews and a big audience when it was originally broadcasted a few years ago. John Le Carre wholeheartedly approved of the many changes they'd done to his original story in order to put it on the 'idiot box'sultan2075 wrote:We just watched The Night Manager on amazon Prime. Loved it
Finally saw this, whole. Pictures are staggering, plot grips, but end makes me think that I've wasted time.
Best thing Ricky Gervais has ever done.

yes very funny. this has sparked a complete Partridge renaisance: as well as watching both series of 'I'm Alan Partridge' (possibly the funniest Partridge outing) i d/l a torrent from TPB which had over 6gb of Chris Morris stuff; including all the "Day Today" and "Brasseye".Pista wrote:Did you see the one with him doing the CPR demonstration?eastmidswhizzkid wrote:

Watched the first two episodes last night. Quite liking it; moreso than season 1, I think. Delightfully weird.EvilBastard wrote:New series of OA on Netflix.

Just got through "syzygy" last night. Did not expect that! Which points to exactly what I like about the show - it actually surprises me.

I'm a couple of eps ahead, and it continues to surprise - I love that there's this "keep an open mind" vibe going on, it doesn't so much test your credulity as make you question your perception of the world around you - it dovetails nicely with Pratchett's concept of the multiverse ("the trousers of time") which I've long been fond of.sultan2075 wrote:Just got through "syzygy" last night.
