"Life" biography

Maybe this post should have gone to the trading section, but I'm not quite sure...

Anyway. There's an Italian bio of TSOM simply entitled "Life". It features a list of (allegedly) all live performances from 81 to 85 and the lyrics of most pre-Vision thing tracks.

The book comes with a mini-CD that features live versions of Emma and Ghostrider. The sound quality is almost perfect and the performance is beyond reproach.

Any idea where and when these were recorded ?

No idea where, though that book (despite its many innaccuracies) also comes with Emma b/w Ghostrider as a 7".

Any idea which is rarer, the 3" CD or the 7"?

It includes a "ten things you didn't know about :von: " list. Most of it seems highly unlikely, and not very significant.

It says his college in Oxford was St John's. Wasn't the issue raised here some time ago ?

Ghostrider Newcastle 85
Emma Bielefeld 85?

Sounds like you're right about Ghostrider. I do have the Newcastle boot : the two recordings sound slightly different. Probably same source but different mastering or whatever. And the whole gig version is cut at the end.

I picked up Life with the emma/ghostrider 7" from ebay for a meagre £5.00 a little while back.
No idea where it was recorded or how rare it is though - just figured I couldnt go wrong at that price.

Mine was a bit more pricey but still reasonable (about £12 from some local record dealer). I already knew the book from a old friend of mine, quite like it, and I probably've felt bad if I'd passed on it.

Yep, that's the info I have too.
I picked up the 7" on its own for a couple of quid. No big loss I haven't got the book, I've seen it and it just looked like a rehash of stuff that was already available, but in Italian.

Funny book. Cool early, and thus very inaccurate, gigography, ace pics, lyrics, and as the man said, Italian biography. :von: Groovy record too. 8)

Picked mine up from that underground outlet HMV when it came out (early 90s?).

Now all I need is a record player.

The copy I have has Emma b/w Ghostrider as a 7" also. I've never seen the version with the mini cd.

It shouldn't be that rare. This friend of mine also had the mCD version.

I've got the mini-CD version, though I can't remember what the hell happened to the book. It's Ghost Rider and Emma, not that it hasn't been confirmed.

That very same series of books did one for Bauhaus and Joy Division. The Bauhaus one had their cover of Spirit in the Sky on it that was im-f**king-possible to find until someone finally dumped it onto mp3 a few years ago.

i got given the book by someone who had lost the 7". it's alright to have sitting in the book-case, as there are hardly millions of books about the girls, but it is shocingly innaccurate.
