Was there any promotion (posters, tv ads, etc.) for the release of the Wake video?

Who's that lucky sod in the audience that's on the video throughout the whole show. Especially at the beginning of F&L&A.
They're either really tall... or on top of someones shoulders

Hey Ramone, is that you the one who appears in that NME goth special? You know, that article about the eskimos. I wanted to ask you earlier but I forgot.

There was a small box ad in the back of Sounds , which said "COMING SOON, YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SEE THE SISTERS OF MERCY LIVE'.
The ad is featured in the black/purple Sisters cuttings book that turns up every now and then on ebay. I don't remember seeing anything other than that. Definately no tv advertising as the Sisters hadn't even had a hit single, when Wake was released.

For some unkown reason I have a recording of WAKE taped from ITV some time in 1988 / 1989.
This reording features introductions from Mike Mansfield. The guy who was responsible for filming the concert.
IIRC the intros are only at the start and then it goes in to WAKE as of the channel 5 release. Plus as it was shown on ITV you have breaks for adverts.
Does anyone remember viewing / taping this recording other than myself?
Knew You'd Be Pleased.....

I think it was more likely 1989/90 as I remember watching it late at night when I was at uni at Aberystwyth.
But I don't remember much else - sorry!

I saw it Andy, that arse Mansfield prattled on for a bit talking bollocks as per, then we got about 30mins of footage with an ad break IIRC.

I remember the Mansfield thing, I think it was shown during the 90s. He prattled on about black light etc. Was part of a series of (badly directed
) gigs he filmed.. Recorded it but have long taped over it. He's a bit of a luvvie!

Dave Beer (Leeds celeb and 'superstar DJ') has always claimed that it was Dave Beer atop shoulders doing the freaky-deaky dancing.

She's a bit lacking in the jumper puppy department then.
I remember it when it was on t'telly and that twit Mansfield going on that he asked the band what colour lighting they preferred, the band said black which good old Mikey boy explained was a bit of a challenge but reckoned that he managed the "Black" lighting very well with a "little televisual trickery".Which accounts for the, what looks like, clouds of black foam engulfing the screen every few minutes.I bet Von and the chaps had a good old chortle about that, had they been on speaking terms which they probably weren't.
I used to have it taped from telly, unfortunately I taped "Debbie does Dallas" over it and I no longer own a VCR,so even a wank is now out of the question as well.

I remember seeing that. I taped it as there was rumoured to be extra footage, but it was the same as the video so I taped over it.
