Big thanks to Alun for sorting me out with this. Made a corking night even better as it only cost me about a fiver for parking and a beer!

@ Dom Conway :notworthy:

And I know you had a great show, in particular after wishing for "Anaconda" to be played and it was, straight after "Alice"

Congrats again on your forthcoming "Nuptuals"

Great to have met you and do hope to be able to meet up for a beer or four sometime soon :D

The end of an era!

Saw the Sisters last night in Bristol.
Been a huge fan since about 1985.
Seen them 11 times before, and mostly had a great time.
Never felt the need before to join a discussion forum to discuss my music tastes until now.
However..... I'd read some posts here about the dubious sound quality of the UK leg etc. and was hoping it was a matrer of personal taste / opinion. It wasn't. They were absolutely dreadful!!!
A friend asked a guy on the mixing desk to "sort the sound out" and was told "I can't help it if he's mumbling".
I know all of the songs, but sometimes found it hard to determine which one was being "played" until about 1 minute in. It was so quiet that I had a normal (not shouting) conversation with a friend, 2 rows from the front!
I tried moving around the venue to give them the benefit of my doubt, but alas - it sounded crap everywhere, and having seen a few bands at this venue, I know it's not a problem in that respect.
Eldritch is obviously on the hunt for more cash. We all know he doesn't give a stuff about the fans, but this was an insult. When I got home, I even chucked my "Jesus loves the Sisters" T-Shirt in the bin.
Never again will I force myself to endure such drivel.
Eldritch - you used to give a good performance despite your dislike of fans and in particular Goths, but this time you've sunk to a new low. The only decent sound was from Dr. Avalanche for christ sakes!
Bollocks to you and your reluctance to perform. You've forgotten who pays for your Marlboros and Vodka.
Stop being such a pretentious prick and get a life you short ageing twit!

I welcome constructive critisism from anyone old enough to remember Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. I'm guessing it will be a split opinion!

P.S - All comments above are my own personal comments and I am entitled to them!

P.P.S - I'm actually a really nice, cheerful and friendly guy - not the bitter twisted idiot I may appear here. It's not the £22 my g/f and I each parted with that bothers me, just that what I consider to be my favourite ever band have let me down BIG style!

Nick.

Therein lies the problem. He's 47 now and at the tail end of the longest tour he's ever embarked on. That may have been an incredibly stupid thing to do, but it's most likely not for want of trying :|

Is this is your idea of "constructive criticism"?

Sure. And I have a right to find your post completely uninteresting.
You could at least have offered the Jesus loves the Sisters t-shirt to another fan.

Here's a post of mine from the other Bristol topic:
Gimme_The_Ring wrote:If it's anything like the topic for Norwich then all the regular Heartland members will say it was fantastic, great night out, sound was loud & clear etc etc and then you'll get a load of newbies signing up saying they couldn't see or hear anything and people were leaving early.
And then what do you know, right one cue a newbie joins and voila!!

Can any admin staff on this forum run an I.P check as I reckon it's the same geeky nerd registering multiple accounts and posting the same s**t in each gig related topic?

Hate to be a nay-sayer, and I'm sure there are some trolls out there, but I think there are quite a few old fans who genuinely think the new sound/show/songs are gash :(

I'm still enjoying The Sissies a lot, if I said I was enjoying them like I was in 92, I'd be a big-fat-liar, but I'm sure that's much more a product of the fact that I'm not 16 any more, and 14 years/40 gigs down the line, it's never gonna be the same. :|

You'll still see me bouncing and sweating at the odd Sisters do in whatever country I make it to, but I don't think all the disappointed people and bad reviews are coming from one or two sources, the sisters have almost purposefully become a pretty acquired taste, and a lot of people are not getting it anymore/at all.

Ho hum, f**k it, bounce up 'n' down in the smoke, heckle Von, drink random grot, wake up in random country. That's what it's for.

Nah, bad reviews and disappointed people are fair enough, and entirely within the bounds of civilized discussion - but broken-record, one-track, malicious and vindictive rants from multiple newly-joined individuals in multiple threads are quite another.

Trolldom has a name, methinks, and *its* name begins with... :von:

I've got a theory, kind of. On this tour it seems if you're down the front, on the lash, you'll have a great time & The Sisters will sound ace. If you're further back, and you've only had a couple 'cos it's a school night, it'll all be a bit disappointing.

Sadly, it *was* a school night, and i did hang back a bit (at the Astoria show) & only had a couple!

Next time round, i'll book the next day off & dive into that there pit...

As far as these "phantom troll-booth" theories go, you nutters, i can only quote dear old Bauhaus... "Paranoia, paranoia, la-la-la, la-la!"

It's more that all these folks who sign up to post one very similar complaint have.......... one very similar complaint, which is made of = smoke/sound/length.

Anyhow, see you down the front this June!

IMO you've been vindicated. Either it's one or two people with multiple accounts, or they're all copy-and-pasting off each other...

I was down the front, on the lash and I had an ok time, no more. I couldn't hear a f**king thing Von was whispering.

Slicepack - no, that was my idea of a frustrated rant. I wanted to voice my opion and see what others thought. As mentioned, it was only my own opinion of the gig.

SINsister - (and most of the other respondents). I apologise if I have basically repeated other posts. I can assure you that I have NEVER registered / posted on Heartland before under a different guise. That would be a very sad and weak thing to do in my opinion.

Badlander - I didn't post my comments to interest you, just to get something off my chest and to see what others thought. If you felt the post uninteresting, why not simply ignore it? Re: the T-Shirt, I didn't really fancy giving and old, sweaty, ripped shirt to someone - especially as i'd have had to have driven home half naked!

Gimme_the_ring - I'm sorry you feel that despite being a Sisters fan for 21 years that you consider me a "newbie". As mentioned above, I just felt strongly enough to add my tuppence. Feel free to have someone do an IP address check. I am neither a geek nor a nerd (well - I do work in IT, so maybe.....), but I haven't seen a Sisters gig since Leeds 2003, so could not have commented on any of the other dates on this tour.

RobF - don't get me wrong, I love the new stuff (i.e. Suzanne, Crash and Burn etc.). I saw them twice on the last tour and they were fantastic!

Hellboy69 - Know what you mean, but I did try going down the front initially, then to the left, right and back (sober). Then decided to get hammered and try the pit again - no improvement (again - in my opinion). There was a group of 5 of us and we all had the same thoughts.

It has not been my intention to annoy anyone - just to voice my own objecvtive thoughts and see what others thought of the evening. Please don't assume that just because I thought the gig was crap, that I am a nerd/geek etc. etc. To those that enjoyed the gig (and any other dates on the tour), i'm glad you did!
