Andrew Eldritch biography....

I'm sitting here watching my Sisters DVD of the Astoria gig from a week ago and it suddenly dawned on me I know very little about Mr Taylor. :?

I know all the early Sisters stuff like living above a chemist in Leeds etc etc but what I don't know is where abouts Andrew was born, why did he move to Leeds, who are his mother & father, has he got any brothers or sisters, what schools/colleges did he go to??????? :?:

Can anyone fill me in on the small details? 8)

SOme details on that site. I've no idea how accurate it is...How many semi retired musicians are at the tail end of a tour like the recent one?

Nothing that isn't common knowledge, and nothing much that Von himself hasn't already revealed in interviews.

This made me laugh:
It has also been mentioned that his real name is "Jerry Lovelock".
How to offend both Wayne and Von in one easy step, eh?

As far as I know Wayne's real name is Jerry That Guitarist. I think the Jerry Lovelock thing originates from a joke in the "Eskimo" fanzine.
EDIT: And I just looked at the wikipedia page and someone just edited it!

The Jerry Lovelock comment was added by someone at The University Computer Center , Birmingham, Alabama, it was deleted by someone in the UK at *.dsl.pipex.com. :D

Eldritch studied French and German literature at the University of Oxford before moving to Leeds around 1978

I knew he was educated but I didn't realise he was a toff.

This is certainly filling in a lot of the gaps for me, cheers. :notworthy: So does anyone know if Andrew William Harvey Taylor has any close family, I've never heard any mention of any? :?:

IIRC Von has an elder Brother. Who is an actor in the USA. As to what his name is I have no idea - are there any famous British Born US Actors with the name "Taylor"

Obviously he may have a "Stage Name" ;-)

Birthplace Ely, Cambs. A beautiful historic city in East Anglia.Well worth a visit. http://www.reggie.net/album.php?albid=206

Father stationed at RAF ELY.

A possible chance that Von attended Kings School, Ely.

A closer look at Halucienate`s homepage, interview section, may tell you a lot. He collected highly interesting interviews there.
(A great :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: to Lucien, by the way!)
Andrew definately is an interesting person.
Somebody who maintains a band which is succeeding throughout the world, yet he doesn`t want to be a rockstar.

I find that kind of interesting; most of the famous British actors in the US seem totally unlikely, then again I may be in the wrong generation!

But then, something like this is kind of funny! I guess it shouldn't be... I think I heard Ely has a military base or something?

Anyway, I was always under the impression it was some kind of younger brother that was an actor, and that he was only a very minor actor. Mainly because, er... I read it on here.

I just remembered something... anyone remember that guy who signed up before the US tour dates were even announced, saying he was in college (or something) with a man who claimed to be Eldritch's younger brother? He said the guy told him Eldritch was planning to play a big tour, going to places they've "rarely, if ever" gone to before?

I remember a while back someone posted a site with a very long in-depth Andy biography...

I remember it mentioning Andy wearing the "trademark aviator" glasses and then I asked for an early picture.... now where did that thread go...

Heh, actually, the discrepancy that caught me the most was seeing a picture of "Guy Pearce" that looked a bit like Brad Pitt. At which point it'd be easy for anyone to figure out, without even *reading* anything, he's not related to Andrew!

But, erm, I need sleep; lots of sleep. And in my altered state, I thought the way certain things lined up was rather amusing.

Anyway, this was the post I was trying to remember earlier: http://myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=9329

I think there was another post on the subject, too...

I thought Von was a Cybog sent back from the future by
ILGAG to rid the world of goff and such stuff as this.

But I could of gotten my sources mixed up.
Maybe that's one of the Action Figures > http://www.myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=10974

Andrew Eldritch Biography

Snippets of Vons past featured regularly in interviews and responses to letter in Underneath the Rock (The Sisters magazine).

Von claims to have moved around alot when a child. I think his father was in the forces (RAF?) and the family were posted overseas (the far east).
He went to school in Malvern (he's referenced the home town of Elgar in interviews) and lived with his grandparents/aunt & uncle (I can't remember which).

He has revisited his haunts in the far east, perhaps he has family/friends over there, I don't know.

Von has one brother and one sister. An interview with him didn't reveal whether they were younger or older than him. The interview revealed he does not keep in touch with his family and that he is an intensely private man.

A previous thread alluded to the Sisters existing in a very embryonic form pre 1980, with Von and Gary.

I'd like to know how the Sisters teamed up with New Model Army for the St Pauli benefit? And how did Von meet Boyd Steemson?

Answers to these would be interesting..

von and justin have been mates for a while... not sure exactly how long, or how it happened, but for what its worth they live relatively near each other these days.
