List Your 5 Most Played (non tsom)LP/CD's In Your Collection

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Christ on a bike!-tends to fluctuate but here goes:

Type O Negative - October Rust
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry - Blow
Fields of the Nephilim - The Nephilim
The Psychedelic Furs - Mirror Moves
Big Black - Songs about F**king

To be honest I have so many other interests/commitments these days it's difficult to find the time to listen to music. Be it firm favourites or the latest thing I've downloaded from Demonoid

Still makes me think about getting out a CD to fall asleep to when I get home, not Big Black obviously......

I don't have a regular top five. Especially as one or more of the Sisters albums figure in it at all times...

I'll hammer regularly - Least Worst Of.. by TON, Empires by VNV, Hybrid by Gary Numan, and Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division.

This is the problem with MP3s, now...I don't so much have albums as songs I nick from each album for a general compilation mix.

These 5 I tend to dig out on a regular basis:

FoTN - Dawnrazor
Type O Negative - October Rust
NIN - Broken
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Wildhearts - Earth vs The Wildhearts

something by The Cure would also be in there but I haven't listened to them for a while (apart from bootlegs).
The Scene won't save you...

According to iTunes its:

NiN - The Downward Spiral
Depeche Mode - Violator
Rosetta Stone - Chemical Emissions
Fields of the Nephilim - Earth Inferno
Children on Stun - Tourniquets of Loves Desire

not sure I believe it though as these are closely followed by 'Duran Duran - Greatest Hits' and 'The KLF -Chill Out'. Gulp.

I have the feeling the original question was "top 5 most played LPs ever" and some of you guys give a "top 5 favourite records" kind of list, whether it be at the moment or ever. These are two slightly different issues. 8)
I think your most played records ever say more about who you are. And fav records lists change like the weather.

I didn't want my list to be all-The Cure either (17 seconds, Faith, Pornography, Disintegration). 8)
That would have left little space for the rest.

According to my iPod / iTunes excluding The Sisters, the most played albums are:

Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
Tool - Lateralus
Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Henry's Dream

But nothing on there has been played more than 8 times it says. But I reckon it's a fair assessment over the past year.

The Sisters stuff comes in this order:
Vision Thing
SGWBM
Floodland
FALAA
then various bootlegs

That surprises me actually; I would have thought it would go Floodland / SGWBM / FALAA / VT :?:

the strange thing is, i have 19 albums that i played most instead of just 5. but i guess that isn't an issue.

1. Covenant - Sequencer:Beta
2. Fields of the Nephilim - Earth inferno
3. Cocteau Twins - The pink opaque
4. Wolfsheim - Spectators
5. Pet Shop Boys - Discography
6. Anne Clark - R.S.V.P.
7. Jean-Michel Jarre - Zoolook
8. Deine Lakaien - Dark star tour live
9. Mesh - On this tour forever
10. Diorama - Her liquid arms
11. Siglo XX - Antler tracks II
12. Front 242 - Live target
13. Pixies - Doolittle
14. Project Pitchfork - Lam-'bras
15. Relatives Menschsein - Gefallene Engel
16. Portishead - Dummy
17. Dive - Concrete jungle
18. Plastic Noise Experience - Rauschen
19. Dryft - Cell

one remark & two observations:
1. i don't listen to albums as much as i used to, just in my car during the daily traffic jams. so countings are based on historical data :)
2. i'm getting old
3. i seem to fancy live stuff quite a lot

Aren't we all ? :innocent:

The most recent LP is my list is FotN's Eath Inferno... which was released 15 years ago.
There are some more recent albums that got played quite a lot (Heather Nova's Oyster being one of them), but by no means as much as these 5 top albums. 8)
