Ministry and Revolting Cocks new albums

MINISTRY-RIO GRANDE BLOOD
I've always thought Alien Jourgenson was pretty cool.Loved the way he always seemed to be taking the p*ss.Ministry tended to get a bit serious with "Psalm 69" onwards, and all a bit Heavy metal. But "Jesus built my hotrod","New world order" and "Filth pig" remain classics in my book.
"Rio grande blood" is a virtual remake of "Psalm 69" without "Jesus..."or "NWO" to save it from disapearing up its own boring,sampled,cyber-metal arse.If you liked "Just one fix" you'll love this.I didn't and I don't.
I suppose the "spooky kids" will love it and claim Ministry as their "New" band,as they did last year with NIN.As far as I'm concerned they're welcome to 'em.
The only redeming feature is the Bush/US baiting lyrics, but didn't Psalm 69 do the same to Dubya's dad 15 years ago?

I prefer;

THE REVOLTING COCKS-COCKED AND LOADED
If,by releasing both albums simultaniously, old AL can do what he really loves on the Revco ticket, fair play to him.
If Ministry's album is a sell out, with its serious lyrics and nu-metal friendly riffs, pays for The Revolting cocks, mad as badgers, brilliance, bring it on!
All rock stars should be drug addled eccentrics. They always go sh*t when they clean up.Obviously Jourgenson made the Ministry album straight, got the advance from the record company, went out and bought a wagon full of crack then made the Revco album.
To describe Revco's sound is a bit like knitting fog.For the most part it's early 90's industrial metal. All huge beats, off kilter guitars and shouty, distorted vocals. But then you get a track like "10000 ways to die" with trumpets(?).
The nearest thing to compare it to recently would be "Electric Six",I suppose and "Fire Engine" is reminisent of "Gay bar",sort of.
But The Revolting cocks are and always were unique,"Cocked and Loaded" is equal to "Beers, steers and queers" and "Linger fickin good" and is how industrial metal should sound(Rammstein should take note).
There's even a f*cked up version of "Dark entries" featuring lyrics of the "dipping their penis's into the open sores of hundreds of thousands of women and children" calibre.OH YES!!!!!!

< - You just need to become Otterly Bastard Groovy like us.

I agree wif ya Ministry seems to be going through the motions now.
Kinda heard that been there. Give me "Mind is a Terrible thing to Taste" or
"Flith Pig".

"You're down there shooting blanks from broken guns
You fire all day long and still not hit a f**king one
Don't wanna know what some sick (sniper(?)) f**k considers fun
Prob'ly throw a party, served melted ice cream over crumbs"

For me (just me, remember) between Psalm 69 and Houses of the Möle it was the desert years, a lack of ideas. And as much as I hate to say it, Paul Barker leaving seems to have been a good thing.

I like the way RevCo take their time. :notworthy:

Get Down is just one of those must hear and play again and again tracks, but that was back in the day. :|
IMO

new RevCo is lame, i'm sorry to say. i used to really like them.
gimme Linger Ficken Good or Beers Steers & Queers any day over C&L.
where's the fun cheezy cover a la Physical or Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?

new Ministry is aggressive, but as you said, lacks some of the humor of prior releases. p'raps Al is just pissed off so bad ad Bu$hCo that he can't smile til the Chimp is out of office.

Belgians to the rescue! ;D

Nothing to add, herr James, a good thing he kicked Barker our (he didn't leave, that would spoil the fun for Al to kick Pauls behind )

The new one is very nice indeed, thougt Houses of the Molé was a bit better due to Major Ranting, but hell, Rio Grande Blood is once again very aggressive and thus liked by me ;)

RevCo are also good, but a bit mellower of course. Nice cruisin' music, next to the two latest Systems Of A Down :notworthy:

SoAD is the best thing that ever happened to rock music after Suicidal Tendencies and Primus.

They put the Fun back in Funeral...

And did they ever take Primus serious? Now there then ;D

Wayne's World wrote:Garth Algar: Uh, Wayne?
Wayne Campbell: Yeah?
Garth Algar: Do you ever get the feeling Benjamin's just using us?
Wayne Campbell: Good call. It's like he wants us to be liked by everyone. I mean Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees.
