I read on another forum that you can record your VHS tapes onto your video camera (and then in turn save it to the PC and make a DVD).

I know the easiest way to put your old tapes onto DVD is with a DVD recorder but I don't have one at the moment. I do however have a video camera. I was wondering is it true that you can record VHS onto the video camera and how is it done?

this link has loads of information, even if you aren't using a Mac:

your video camera must be Digital8 or mini dv with a pass-through feature - not all cameras have it. it needs a dv link port like FireWire or USB.

you can also use a analog to digital bridge, aka DV bridge; they run about $200, close to the cost of a DVD standalone recorder.

Well according to my instruction manual my camera (Sony DCR-HC19E) can't record from VHS but it does have USB plugs for getting stuff onto the PC...
