Tech Help Requested please?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Two things:

(1) My AVG Anti virus 7.1 (free edition) has
just decided bittorrent.exe is a virus,
does this indicate an infected exe or
is it that BT is now on AVGs virus
signature list, if so, why?

(2) I've recently used Nero Sound Trax to
record my pc audio (for example streaming
audio from bbc website) to wav.

Is there a simple free tool that will
do this? and will it also record to mp3
directly?

(1) This happens a lot with AV programs. An infected exe is a possibility, but the most likely explanation is that bittorrent is doing something that mimics virus heuristics, and you've just got a false positive.

(2) Most wave editors will allow this. You could do a whole lot worse than try Audacity.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

AVG has never found that as a virus for me, but I use "BitTornado", so you never know.

I recommend treating it as an infected file, deleting it, then redownloading it from another source.

As for #2, get Audacity. Plain and simple.

Indeed, AVG and Bittornado as well, never had any problems :)
