Heartland

I generally hate goff compilation albums with a passion, but this one might be of interest, coming from a major player in the music reissue biz (and that's Rhino).
And for once it does bring together 80s big names and not dodgy second-rate combos.

Not a bad selection, I'd have gone with a different Ghost Dance song tho' , and no Skeletal Family & again , how can you have a FUCKIN' GOFF collection without Promised Land, She Cries Alone or Trees , and Melody Lee by The Damned , apart from that.......not bad

Sanctury gothic compilation from universal (I think) is truely excellent. Its a goth club hits list. I can't believe its endorsed by the artists (it has the sisters on it, TOL), the best goh compilation I've ever seen.

What, what? The link just loaded up. That is a good collection.

Sanctury has a few other bits and bobs including material from Rosseta Stone and NMA. But that is a cool comp.

And one of my all time favorites Billy, I've lost count how many times I've seen them over the years, they were the forth or fifth band I ever went to see, I just don't think that's the track for a compilation like that.

What's wrong with bands that never got huge record deals with "let's screw-you-over" labels?

I'd not mind hearing a whole album of strange, next-to-unknown bands, rather than another CD of Bela Lugosi's Dead and She Sells Sanctuary.

That's not exactly what I had in mind.

I don't wanna know whether Garden of delight, Sweet William, The Tors of Dartmoor, etc. (just to name a few) got screwed up by evil record companies. They just sucked, that's all.

Generally speaking, I'm with Dark on this one. I'd rather hear 'new' or more obscure bands who I might not have heard before - I don't see the point in buying a compilation album where I've got all the tracks on albums I have anyway...
