For Greater What?

On 23rd August , 23:23 BST, I'll be putting out a free online single for anyone who wants some fairly harsh techno.
And for all you fans of FGG, there's a sample of Dawn Over Dachau in the background throughout most of the song.
However, this song will only be available for
23 minutes before being deleted.
A shortened version will probably make its way across the water for a CD sometime, but for the full, unedited goodness, make sure you're awake Wednesday night.
Note: I was requested for it to be uncommercial and unlistenable. And I succeeded, I think.

How can this NOT be good, this is totally in the FGG spirit!
Well, I thought it a nice idea, and I have received another floor-stomper as of yesterday (see SHT thread).
Whta can I say...fan-releases, you can't stop them?
And no worries James, the original art is fertig due next week!

Speaking of the new stuff. We have been recording from keyboard to PC using a headphone wire with a jack on each end but there is quite a lot of crackle evident. We've tried recording it on a quieter volume and also used Cool Edit Pro's crackle reduction thing but it's still evident. It seems as more sounds are introduced the crackle becomes heavier, I thought maybe the soundcard can't handle all the sounds but I thought I'd ask you guys for some help/tips?

Is the noise coming from this?

Could be a dodgy cable?

It's not the cable because I've used it to record with my keyboard to my PC and it's fine. But we use James' keyboard cause it's newer and better. I thought maybe the power of his keyboard is too much?

Ok, obvious questions first:
-check recording levels? Could be distortion from high peaks in the volume. If you have a way of monitoring the input (VU meter or a simple indicator in CoolEdit) alsways try to be in between -3 and -12 dB input. When you don't have dB input metering, just be on the safe side and try to avoid input level above three-quarters of you indicator.
-also, don't crank up the volume of the keyboard too loud. The three-quarters maximum can also be applied here...
-what soundcard do you use? Tried another cable yet? Or another keyboard? Dis this James-creature have previous cases where this occurred?
If none of the above help, gimme a ring and I'll come around to check

No need to call you Iz, we have fixed the problem. All we needed to do was turn down the microphone on the Windows Recording Mixer
So now everything sounds a lot better and we have decided to rerecord the whole thing
cheers,
robert.

Oh, rest assured, if I want to, I will.
I won't ask either, I only told Izzy that I'd used a sample about a day before I finished working on it.
This is what KLF is about!

I'm sure. You were pleased to have been sampled, and I have the PMs to prove it.
Annoyingly, I may not be able to release it at the correct time.. if that's the case, it may be at 22:23 or indeed 21:23. Just a heads-up.

Aren't we +2 right now, Summer Time?
Guess that makes it 01:23 which is way past bed-time for me
By the way, what's the obsession with 23? I will probably have missed the obvious, but was wondering

Z! Who can't do the math? I said 22:23 and you said +2 and in that book of mathematics it gives me 00:23 and of course the next day and not 01:23!
*I'll never get this time thingy ~ sobs and wails*
23? 2+3=5 so maybe they will be five minutes late?

by Obviousman
Ah, yes in that case you're right
I thought it was meant to be 23:23 UK time
I'm alright at math, though time is always something else. I remember our Geography teacher always doing 'airplane questions' If a plane takes off from Brussels-Zaventem at some time and lands X hours laters in whichever crazy place you can think of, at which time does it arrive. Always drove me crazy
