Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

A friend has just pointed me in the direction of this LiveJournal Community: Dracula1897

Basically, starting a few months ago they are publishing the Dracula novel in 'real time'. The actual book was essentially made up of various letters and diary entries and so this site is reproducing them on the relevent day.

In the book the entries are not stricly in date/time order - presumably to aid the storytelling process - and so re-reading everything in chronological order adds a different twist to a book that I have read a few times before.

Various discussions about the content seem to occur in the comments section and during quiet times the moderator suggests some topics for discussion, until the next entry comes along.

A very good idea for an LJ community - am now going to spend some time this weekend catching up on the 'story so far'.

If someone wanted to read the letters in chronological order couldn't they just flip between them in a copy of the book, making the live journal pointless?

But I think the discussion between readers is part of the idea - kind of like an online book club.

Any of you lot actually read the book?Its bollocks and the end is unbelievably anti-climatic s**t.
