A statement is expected on
This tackle soon, Ben Thatcher has been suspended by Man' City and the Police are now involved, he received a Yellow card for the tackle and hes been charged by the FA
.
A missed timed tackle or common assault?, should Football be allowed to "Police" itself or should the authorities step in such extreme circumstances?

Looked like a very bad foul and very deliberate but I think football should police itself. I'm one for very commited play but that's different to being a thug and trying to hurt someone. If idiots like him are punished - basically by being banned it will be discouragement to others.

What's next, Cassius Clay getting fives times death penalty for thousands of assaults and attempts at manslaughter?
It is SPORT, created so as people will NOT bash each others' head in at random, but in a controlled manner and with a neutral referee (cough.)...
Police should stay out of this. Or do a friendly match with the violators

Disgraceful 'tackle' if you can call it that. Like Stuart Pearce said tho, if the police start getting involved where will it all end....do you start arresting players during matches? Having said that...we're all well aware of how (in)competent the FA are aren't we?

Agreed to a certain extent
IZ, anyone stepping into the professional Boxing ring knows He/She will be getting punched in the Head and Body, they know what the possible results will be, but where do the boundaries of over zealous sporting tackles become assault, if a Boxer was
Kicked in the Head after being knocked over, that surely oversteps the mark in anybody's book.
When a Footballer jumps to Head the Ball from a corner he expects possible contact from an elbow, should he expect the above tackle while running for a 50/50 ball?.
I haven't made my mind up about "Self Policing" in Football yet, but if ever there was a case for outside intervention it's this one, IMO.

it happens up here in Canada occansionally with the NHL, not very often but it does. Last one was
Todd Bertuzzi who broke Moore's neck I believe. He got charged with assault by Vancouver police.
There's been bad blood between both teams for awhile and Moore was no saint either as he's given out his fair share of concusions too.

Incompetent? The FA? What in blazes are you saying, man?
Haven't seen the tackle so can't comment. Daryl Hare has been there, seen it all before. Draw your own conclusions. Who cares, we're toast when we get to the old colony down south.
Oh yeah, and rozzers / football. WTF?? I despise hearing of 'official' complaints from so called Red-fans (or anyone, normally 'anyone') when Mr Shearer has been waving at them with two fingers, demanding prosecution or some form of police attention. FFS, they'll be the same fans who spent the last 80 minutes calling him a useless prick who's won f**k all. Nobs, however accurate. Slightly OT, but hey.
Ain't sport BRILLIANNNT!
