What happened to James Ray after the release of the "Psychodalek" album? I haven' been able to find any new info on the net and the official Gangwar site is down. Does anyone know?

According to my mate from the pub, he's gone back to being a landscape gardener

Oh, I didn't know he was a gardener in the first place! Thanks for your info. Do your mate know if he is planning to release some music in the future or is that a part of the past for him?

Well according to my mate, who knew JR well enough to have a rather spiffing demo tape of him singing Floodland tracks and went with JR to the this Corrosion shoot, yes he's had enough of music. He did some dance stuff not so long ago but seems to have “retired for now.

Assuming his information is right,

Just look in the yellow pages under E. Mansfield Landscape Gardener and you could have yourself some rather unique shrubberies

We are the knights……….etc

Welcome to Heartland btw

James Ray AKA Eric Mansfield Retired in 1997 last official Gig was the Whitby Gothic festival though he did 2 more one was in Wiltshire and the other a Private Party in London about 3 years ago.

Now lives as a House husband and gave up music, John Bainbridge has his own Techno outfit called I Man Conspiricy, who sound a lot like Gangwar.

I had the privilage to support Gangwar 3 Times, If it wasnt for the fact that JRG got totally Pissed at pretty much every gig they did, and ultimatally buggered up there live peformance, they could have been massive, but they blew it.

Last I heard he was running a trendy wine bar.

There were also rumors that he was looking to put the band back together
for a few more dates in '03.

I hope it happens

Well I ome of those, I considor myself to be a Hard
core sisters fan but I really dont make the effort to
travel all over the place for sisters gigs, why?
Because I have been to far to many dissapointments.

Last night though wasnt the case. Firstly was
interesting to see Chris Starling (Our local boy) Adam
and Simon D in the pub beforehand.

The gig itself well the lights were better than usual
but not as good as what you would see at an event like
the Whitby Gothic weekend. Sound quality was very good
everything was clear and solid.

As for peformance, the band seamed a little drained to
start but they did gove it some too, How eldritch can
say hes anything else other than a goth band though is
beyond me. Some of the newer songs were more dull than
usual, Slept is plane boring as is will I dream, Crash
and Burn had more perk than usual, Dominion was great,
Lucretia was the definite highlight for me, I was
wrong was dissapointing, vision thing was perfect.

There was a very enthusiastic lady near me who could
scream louder than my 2 parrots and my friends macaw
in unison!!

Anyway, During Romeo down i decided to be a rebel and
heckle 'Boring' on the face that Von didnt sing the
first verse and just wailed.

The some old bloke in a dodgy cordory jacket came up
to me and said 'well there not as boring as your band'
and walked off, Cheeky F**ker i thought. The in
thought who the hell knows me that would weare such a
didgy jacket, then it dawned on me it was me old mate
Eric (Or jame Ray to the ret of you), Anyway collered
mr Ray afterwards for a chat, Looks like he IS putting
a new band together and doing another album, as well
as his on going Book writeing, and its funny seeing
him wouthout his goatie, he must have kepted off the
newcastle brown cause he looks no different now as he
did when he was on top of the pops in 1987!!!

Rev Rev!

Matt

PS and if i wasnt doing a gig in london on saturday id
of probably made the effort to go to leeds, so have
fun those that do.
