Classy Joints in Italy
I'm heading to Italy for 2 weeks shortly with a few mates. Any recommendations of decent drinking esablishments in Rome, Florence (who's Florence?) and Venice are most welcome. We'll be looking for the kind of place where you can have a pint and a yap (after a long day killing Christians in the Colloseum ), and also maybe some music joints that do the more accessible side of post-punk/80s indie music (to keep the others happy).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

One place you must most definately go in Florence is L'Orlogio, a classic tratoria on near the edge of town (near the place where Viale Europa reaches the Arno IIRC) mostly for locals (well, used to be, didn't look like it'd ever become a hot spot ) where they serve the very best steak you'll ever eat: A bistecca Fiorentina (I could kill someone for one of those ). They also have a very nice antipasta assortment.
Don't miss out on this one (though it's food and not drinks ) Have a good time!

Take a squizz at the article in last week's Observer, How to do Venice like a Venetian ("go blind", ho ho ho!)
