I hope it wasn't posted here before

Some review of what seems to be the top nite out

I got by e-mail. I'd most definately take part in it if I could...

The second encore needed a bit more calling for, but the band eventually
came back. Eldritch had now donned some very strange foam shoulder pads
(black of course) and was smiling to himself. The band then proceeded to
do a cover of "He's got the whole world in His hands" !!!!. The crowd all
sang along to this and the song got faster and higher in pitch - as it
progressed Eldritch's voice started to howl more and more - and the lyrics
started to take a strange course ("He's got the Tomahawk missile in His
hands" ??). As the song finished Eldritch was kneeling on the stage - by
now having discarded the shoulder pads - and as the music ended he went
into a solo vocal chorus of "Always look on the bright side of life". It
was a strange spectaclt - Eldritch shrieked the words out and the crowd
sang along - hundreds of goths waving their arms in the air and singing
"always look on the bright side of life, de-dum, de-dum-de-dum-de-dum".
After all these years the Sisters still have a keen sense of irony. As he
howled the last "de-dum-de-dum" the drum machine burst into life and the
band went straight into "1969" to finish the show. It was stunning, you
cant imagine it unless you were there really, one of the best ever....

Reading 1991. I think that was also where they did a fake 1959 intro to 1969. Have a tape of the full gig somewhere

Nah, they did that in Birmingham one year later.

It's a traditional hymn. And one that is very easy to take the p*ss out of, as demonstrated here.

Strange thing, though, Whole World and 1969 are omitted from the "Neon Dream" bootleg of this gig.

I guess it's a bit of a "middle of the road" bootleg. The bootlegger just didn't see the importance of these two tracks, and so he edited them out.

The Neon Dream was on a single CD. I may be confusing it with other bootlegs, but the length of the gig may have been too long (more than 80 minutes) to include these two tracks. There are complete copies out there.
