I know this has been widely talked about... but do you guys seriously believe Von has given up on drugs since the 80's? I am willling to buy the part of quitting hallucinogetic drugs....but besides that??? This guy is definitely on something. One does not suffer from a sever case of lock jaw from drinking lager.

Is it clever to discuss such matters on a forum that is available to the public? I doubt so. You may just as well tell the police.

He's hardly been backward about coming forward about his drugtaking in the past. Amphetamine Logic...

I don't know about Von's habits now though. I'm just making a guess.

As markfiend stated: it's not as if he or other members of the band have made it a secret that they occasionaly like to indulge in a little bit of this and that.

I always assumed his face had a lot to do with drugs. The skinneyness being a result of the classic 'speed for breakfast, lunch and dinner' and his upturned nose with flared nostrils having a lot to do with crystal meth. He looks like a mosiac of drug abuse.

His nose was quite badly broken in his youth I believe.

Amphetamine sulphate, is a chemical...I'm sure you can get the rest of the way by yourself.

ok.

Above the chemist = in the drug taking scene.

Speed, because that was the most abundant drug in Leeds at the time.

Didn't it also have something to do with being more of a punk's drug of choice?

I remember in the North-East, you could fairly easily judge who took what by which social group they were in.

Hippies - pot/acid.

Skins - glue/gas/poppers/barbs, usually a mix of all of them at the same time.

Punks - speed and to a lesser extent solvents.

Of course, then came the late 80's and everything changed. And now it doesn't seem to matter.

I've heard that there was a very productive speed-lab somewhere in the Chapletown area of Leeds during the 80s. For all I know it might still be there; Leeds still had a reputation as an amphetamine city well into the 90s. Although nowadays the cheap coke flooding the place along with all the yuppies has probably put paid to that.

is chapeltown leeds 6 area? there was a lot of speed coming from someone up there when i first got seriously into it.

apart from it's abundance, speed is the natural drug of choice for rock bands and their related entourage and crew. it's a long way to the top before you can afford to shovel the equivalent amount of coke up your nose as you'd need for touring/rehearsing/recording. psychedelics are all very well for the creative process but hardly a life-style drug to keep you going every night of a tour and smack's just for cunts.
