How religion and faith can transform people and events.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

"NICKEL MINES, Pennsylvania, Monday October 2, A dairy truck driver, apparently nursing a 20-year-old grudge, walked into a one-room Amish schoolhouse here Monday morning and systematically tried to execute the girls there, killing four and wounding seven before killing himself, the police said.

The heavily armed gunman first ordered the 15 boys in the room to leave, along with several adults, and demanded that the 11 girls line up facing the blackboard. As the gunman lashed the students' legs together with wire and plastic ties, the teacher dashed from the room and called the police around 10:35 a.m"

After watching six more of the little girls die off over a few days (ages 6-13) the Amish parents openly forgave the killer and set up a fund for the killer's widow and children. They also mourned with the killer's wife and children, offering them love and support. The killer's widow and children are not Amish.

The forgiving response of the Amish community has set the standard of love for the rest of us in PA; we are inspired to forgive and accept too. The killer's widow and children will not be ostrasized, but instead will be accepted and cared for.

They are lovely but I'm not prepared to milk cows at dawn, raise barns and have disgraced criniminal cops come looking to kill me.

Ancient Greece, several thousand years ago.

The goddess Thetis, being miffed that Andromeda was described as more beautiful than her, threw a right hissy fit and demanded that Andromeda be sacrificed in 30 days time.

It's almost like you're deliberately going off topic. What would Harry Hamlin say?

Ancient Palmyra, about 2 thousand years ago.

Claiming descent from Cleopatra, Queen Zenobia imbued Palmyra with a wild romance. Apparently, she was also a ruler with a sense of humor. A merchant was to be punished for overcharging and was summoned to the theatre to appear in front of the queen and the public audience. The merchant stood alone in the arena and shook with fear, thinking that a wild beast was to be set upon him. When the beast was released the crowd roared with laughter – the merchant turned around to be confronted by a chicken.

The Amish disgust me.

I remember seeing a documentary about Amish cover-ups. This Amish girl was raped by her three brothers, so she ran to the priest (or vicar, whatever), and he simply told her to turn the other cheek and forgive them. Afraid that it would happen again, she went to the police. Because the boys got life sentences, she was disowned by her family and the entire Amish community.

This documentary also said about how this sort of thing happens a lot in the Amish community, but they cover it up so they’re seen as peaceful simple folk. Now, sure, I’d be fine with it if it was just a few members who were doing sick stuff, what annoys me is that the entire community covers it up and generally the criminal goes unpunished and the victim does. It’s disgusting.

P.S DarkAngel, enough trolling already!

In Internet terminology, a troll is usually someone who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive, offensive, off-topic or otherwise disruptive messages designed intentionally to annoy or antagonize the existing members or alter the flow of discussion, including the personal attack of calling others trolls.

By the very definition we have allot of trolls onboard.....>
If you: alter the flow of discussion > You're a troll
If you're: Rude > You're a troll
If you're: Off topic > You're a troll
If you're: Inflammatory > You're a troll

Ok kids now it's time to twist the definition to fit your attacks...

Keep in mind, I actually like allot of you jerks........

Keep twisting yourself. As understandable as it is that you're in a relationship with DarkAngel, springing to her defence all the time is admirable, if somewhat misguided.

I should damn well hope so. It was him that killed the girls, not them. And I'm sure not a day will go by without them being reminded of the compassion and forgiveness the Amish have shown them.
