don't worry I'm not going to hold you to anything you answer here - we're just trying to test the water and see what people think so please be honest. feel free to answer even if you're not a leeds/west yorkshire person (although it'd be handy if you indicated you were being purely hypothetical as you live in glasgow or summat)

we're thinking of putting on a 2 part new years eve do. the first part from 7:30-10:30 would be a burlesque night and have rockabilly, big band and other odd music and would be limited to about 125 tickets. buying a ticket for this would let you in for the whole night. the second half from 10:30 till bedtime (3, 4, 5am? who knows) would have seperate cheaper tickets and have a capacity upto our full 306. we're looking into a number of options for this portion musically and have had offers from a couple of djs that worked at our halloween do so is likely to be quite ecclectic alt/indie/cool/rocky

so what questions for you? how about:
- would you go to/consider going to something like that and if the first part, second part or both.
- what do you think people would feel comfortable paying for this? a standard new years eve down the phono used to be £7 in advance for just a club night so clealy we'd be looking to charge more than this for the first portion and second portion together and maybe somewhere around that for the second portion by itself. staff costs are going to be a big issue to us for this - we're trying to gauge if it's even feasible to do the burlesque do.
- what do you think the variation between the 2 music types would be a be a good thing or a bad thing
- any other comments?

I'm cross posting this to a number of other forums of different musical genres but you lucky sisters fans are the first ones! lucky lucky!

Would love to go in different circumstances (ie not married with kids all demanding my attention on New Years eve).

How's that for a helpful contribution Sarah? :D :innocent:

Riding crops at the ready! ;D

Sounds like a good idea to me. 8)

Whether I'd go would depend on whether I could talk others into going.
Admission fee wise, not really sure... I paid £25 on one occasion to go to Heaven & Hell (sh*t Leeds club) for New Years Eve so anything less than that is feasible as far as I'm concerned.

Music's a difficult one. Can't cater for everyone's needs can you. As long as its not mainstream then I'm sure the kind of people likely to go will be happy enough.

Ps. If you get Dita Von Teese for the burlesque show I'll certainly show up.

bloody hell! that is a lot of money! trouble is people in the alternative scene are notoriously tighter when it comes to paying for club nights. I think £5 is expensive and I'm Peter F Stringfellow*

a few people have mentioned £15 which suprised me does make me think we can do it for that much for the whole night and mebby a tenner for the club bit with discounts for advance ticket purchase? hmm. anyone got an envelope I can do some figures on the back of?

*the f stands for f**king.

And a great big neon blue bowtie!

€15 (in the land of Real Money) would actually be very reasonable for a night like that - we're talking about where admission to a typical pulling joint nightclub is about €8.

If I wasn't living in a different country 'n' awkward stuff like that, I would definitely consider both sessions.

I live in Glasgow and am a curmudgeonly olde pharte, but as scripture states:
should one or two be gathered in the name of Heartland
then many will come
from nation
far and wide

I'd cough up twenty quid for the whole shebang, but I'd only be fit for one part or the other ;D

hope that helps :D

I'd consider going if I'd like the crowd that is usually hanging out at this place. (But would be rather disappointed to get complimeted out at 3, 4 or even 5 am.)

what about food? I mean if it starts at 7:30, people should get the possibility to built a strong base in their bellys at least?

phono always used to put on free pizza just after midnight on NYE. we should have our kitchen up and running by then so should be able to provide rudimentary snackage... pies, bacon butties, quiche.
