don't worry I'm not going to hold you to anything you answer here - we're just trying to test the water and see what people think so please be honest. feel free to answer even if you're not a leeds/west yorkshire person (although it'd be handy if you indicated you were being purely hypothetical as you live in glasgow or summat)
we're thinking of putting on a 2 part new years eve do. the first part from 7:30-10:30 would be a burlesque night and have rockabilly, big band and other odd music and would be limited to about 125 tickets. buying a ticket for this would let you in for the whole night. the second half from 10:30 till bedtime (3, 4, 5am? who knows) would have seperate cheaper tickets and have a capacity upto our full 306. we're looking into a number of options for this portion musically and have had offers from a couple of djs that worked at our halloween do so is likely to be quite ecclectic alt/indie/cool/rocky
so what questions for you? how about:
- would you go to/consider going to something like that and if the first part, second part or both.
- what do you think people would feel comfortable paying for this? a standard new years eve down the phono used to be £7 in advance for just a club night so clealy we'd be looking to charge more than this for the first portion and second portion together and maybe somewhere around that for the second portion by itself. staff costs are going to be a big issue to us for this - we're trying to gauge if it's even feasible to do the burlesque do.
- what do you think the variation between the 2 music types would be a be a good thing or a bad thing
- any other comments?
I'm cross posting this to a number of other forums of different musical genres but you lucky sisters fans are the first ones! lucky lucky!
