Nightmare before Christmas festival

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Got back about an hour ago. Odd weekend.
Friday we just went for something to eat & had a look round Butlins.
Saturday we went to see a few bands. The venues in Butlins surprised us a bit because they were so massive .... in fact Butlins itself is way way bigger that I'd ever imagined. After seeing some dodgy s**t during the day we went to see Gang of four in the evening. They were good and got the kids moving and grooving. It culminated in beating up a microwave with an iron bar.

Up next were Dinosaur Jr. They were f**king appalling, so much so that we had to walk out until they'd finished. We came back in & watched Sonic Youth who were ok but not spectacular & off we went.

Sunday was the big day for me.
Saw some crap band on the big stage followed by some bloke by himself making Dr Who noises. We went down to stage 3 to have a look at some band called the Skaters. The intro tape started ... & carried on ...and on ....it sounded like whale noises & seemed to be never ending. After 25 minutes it stopped, someone said "thank you" & the lights came up - that was the f**king band.
Back in the main stage area we saw "the best motherfucking band in the universe" apparently - some US punk band called Negative Approach.... they were s**t.
Out we went & got in the line for the headline band and highlight of the weekend. When I first heard that the Stooges were playing Butlins I didn't believe it. As it happens it ended up being one of the best two gigs I've ever been to, the other one being another Stooges gig. They ripped the f**king place apart. Iggy went in the audience at least a dozen times, he had the audience invade the stage & they flew through the set quicker than Abbi Titmus would drop her drawers for a third division footballer.
They were punk ten years before punk and they were grunge 20 years before grunge.

We called in at the second stage on the way back to catch Be your own pet hurl themselves around. Tried to get some sleep after that but as if you can get any sleep at these do's.

Excellent, the best time I've seen the Stooges. It was like seeing them in a small club despite the venue's capacity being nearly 3000. MC5 were good too. Unusual seeing Mr. Whammy rather than just fog.

BTW One of the new songs puts in an appearance on Telluric Chaos if you can't wait for the new album.
