OK smart arse, you have your Leeds winter and I'll have my Cape Town summer. I'm quite happy with thatmarkfiend wrote:Hah! We get a longer summer than you do!hallucienate wrote:I'd rather be 'Underneath that burning sun' than freezing my nuts off up north![]()
Because the Earth is closest to the Sun in January, and therefore orbits faster, the time between the September equinox and the March equinox (northern hemisphere autumn and winter / southern hemisphere spring and summer) is on average about a week shorter* than the other "half" of the year from March until September (northern hemisphere spring and summer / southern hemisphere autumn and winter)
(Guess who got "Does Anything Eat Wasps" and "Why Don't Penguins' Feet Freeze" for Christmas)
* 6 days 18 hours to be more precise.
You should know by now that I take that as a complimenthallucienate wrote:smart arse
