this corrosion (remastered) - different vocal production?

listening to the floodland "remaster & expanded" this morning and is it my imagination or are the vocals on chorus of this corrosion different somehow?

they sound phased, or treated in some way...

its mainly during the first line of each "hey now..." section. i've listened to the remastered version and the overbombing version back to back (dont have the original issue of the album on my ipod at the mo' ) and there's a definite difference in the vocal sound.

well, when i say "definite" i mean "probably" :|

izzy? you heard it yet? any ideas? :D

As I don't have the remasters, I cannot say I can compare the two.
And of course, I would NEVER ask anyone to upload, say, with YouSendIt, a 44100 16bits WAV version of both the older and the newer This Corrosion, because that's illegal.

We will have to find another way...

Raf, do you have the remasters? Didi you hear anything different?

Hmmm, the Overbombing version of TC is different to the LP version anyway - it's a slightly shorter edit at the very least, and may even be the one that's mixed a bit differently too (I don't think it's the 12" mix, cos that's also a bit different!)

It does sound a lot cleaner & up front than the original CD.

Seems to be more dynamism there, but not just with the vocals

Which all begs the question of how many different versions of TC have been released anyway? Seems that everytime it's released on any format it's a slightly different version.

IIRC the version on the original vinyl LP is slightly shorter than the version on the "unremastered" CD; the 12" version is different again, then there's the 7" version, the version on ASCOOB, this version, that's at least 6!

Plus demo versions...

Oh yeah, I forgot those. That's at least another two then from the cassette single; I can't recall whether the cassette version of Floodland has yet another version. 8, maybe 9 officially released versions!

Black label promo version.. I could never hear any difference, except a slight dip in pitch (was it a slower speed to pad it out?) and maybe a slightly longer fade-out.

And did we ever find out who did the supposed "Spiral Tribe" mix?

cassette version of floodland...all the tracks run into each other with no real silent bits between (most of them anyway) TC just runs into the next track (flood 2?)via a cross fade type thing.

I myself don't have the remasters, but I gave them as a birthday present to the biggest SoM fan I know, who also has the originals. I'll ask him to lend the whole deal to me and I'll do a comparative test...

The chorous sounds a lot like the chorouses on this demo I have though I can't think why he would lift Ray's vocals in the mix, but that's what it sounds like to me. But my ears are like finely tuned fish. :urff:

That's as maybe but it isn't his record. I may be wrong anyway, but someone else on this forum seems to be under the same impression

Not forgetting the video version with it's thunder before the choir start and (as I don't own it) what's the difference on the CD single if any?
