The Batcave(Albion)/NYC. Fan~f'in~tastik!!!

I made a mad dash to the main dancefloor when Warlock[Skinny Puppy] was blasting through the souped up soundsystem....I'd gone a bit mental during that tune...but then....immediately following Warlock was......

RIBBONS!!!!!!!!!

I went completely s**t! I've waited years and endured 1,936,478 needless rotations of Temple Of Love('92) for the chance to totally lose myself to Ribbons. Awesome!

Other highlights:
Dominion
I Read The Lines[Wolfsheim]
Fireworks[Siouxsie And The Banshees]
Dead Stars[Covenenant]<~been a while since I'd heard that believe it or not.
Second Skin[Chameleons]
Situations[Cetu Javu]

Debaser says:

"Were you dancing to 'All Night Long' - Lionel Ritchie too??"

Ewe no, where the hell were you? And secondly...did the DJ play that of their own free will or was it spun under duress? Or did someone slip the DJ a fiver?

Was at Rock City last night to see The Music...but more importantly Nylon Pylon.

Toptastic night...NP lived up to all I expected/wanted.

The Music...well the singery bloke looks like some bastard child from an unholy union between Joey Ramone and Tony Adams but he can throw some great shapes.

Particularly impressed with three tracks People, Long Road and Walls Get Smaller.

OH yes...I DON'T know a secret :(

Smothered Hope[Skinny Puppy]
The Metro[Berlin]
No Name, No Slogan[Acid Horse]

Brixton Academy last night to see same as Wednesday. BA was an incredible place...but to me the sound was s**t especially Nylon Pylon (which was a shame) but I was stood way at the back behind the mixing desk so perhaps it sounded better towards the front...

Had a TOP spot view was perfect...until the 'corporate ligger brigade' trogged into the mixing boothy bit...and proceeded to clap each other masculinly on the back, share jokes and nod knowingly at 'in the business' jokes. T****! Do it somewhere else...or more specifically don't do it infront of Joe 'fecking I've paid to get in here' public (or more specifically...ME).

Funny story of the night......I can only take about so much of the Music and his voice just winds me up so after a particularly whiney track I trundled off to the back so immediately after the Long Road I could shoot off to catch a Tube....I'd had my fair amount of neck craning to watch the band on stage (see previous whinge about people in front of me) and was more than pleastanly suprised to have a damn fine view from right by the doors....As they just started up the intro for said fav track who should brush past but 2 of the liggers...'Blimming typical' I mutter to Gaz....'now I've gone there's no one's view for them to spoil...' Anyway they leave then dash back in to catch a particularly fine rendition of Long Road...and hey guess where they stood???????? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Anyway I had a humourus rib-poking two mins with them...gits!

Yeah, I was really impressed by NP Ness. The Bassist really caught my eye ( not that way  ). Proper rock & rollers.

Music? Well, "turn out the lights" did it for me. They took a while to sound good but i nearly wept at that track. BTW Blackpool Good friday at the winter gardens $13.50

So that would be a no then Rev...but ooh a get together in Blackpool..now that DOES pose some interesting ideas......

Glad you liked Nylon Pylon though....Cath mentioned before that that seem to be more guitar based no and I can see what she means....I did like the electro sound I must admit..

Went to Sheffield last night to see Echoboy.

Delighted to find out it was a 'free' gig..hurrah.

We sat and listened from upstairs when the support band first came on...but that keyboard sound just gripped the two Manc's with us and so glad we did....Ceaser, my new favourite Swedish band.

Ceaser lead singer....TOP stage fall! LMAO Good job it was only two foot off the ground.

Echoboy were sounding really good if you can cach them on thier tour in Feb. Echoboy are a pocket-size band with a big sound. Cath will do justice to a review if we all ask her nicely.

A good weekend overall. Caught some bands in action on friday and saturday that impressed me. From what I can gather there's quite the post-punk/new wave/"shoegazer" resurgence happening recently in NYC...alot of local acts have been taking their cues from the likes of Joy Division(the peppier aspects of), Comsat Angels, early Human League, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, 'Seventeen Seconds' era Cure, The Bad Seeds, etc...
I usually paid little attention to the Manhattan/Brooklyn music scene 'cuz it mostly consisted of bands either trying their best to ape the Dead Boys or acts sticky with Skid Row/Motley Crue residual.
Anyway.....went out clubbing both nights after the shows. I'm thoroughly worn out!

Driven Like The Snow
Chinese Black[Neon Judgement]
On The Other Side[Silke Bischoff]
Russian Radio[Red Flag]
Face To Face[Siouxsie And The Banshees]
Reptile[The Church]
Whisper To A Scream(Birds Fly)[Icicle Works]
Marbleyezed and Candy Girl[Soviet]
Seconds[Human League]
Bullet[Covenant]
Electricity[OMD]

I'm sore.

Dagnabbit, Jj!!!

If I lived in NYC, I'd go out clubbing, too! "Scene" clubs here in the Windy City blow chunks in comparison... :( :( :(

I'm expecting a great night... The Club I work for at the moment in Nottingham have rather jammily managed to get the Chemical Brothers to come down and play this evening ;D As alll three room in the place only hold about 500 people, I think we may be in for a certain level of chaos

Whoop whoop :von:
