I'm trying to find out some details about this band, particulary when Mick Brown (Mish drummer) was playing with them. Does anybody know of the release details of their first singles and EP's and their debut album. I have the years for it but not the actual months. Did a few web-searches but nothing more detailed came up. Does anybody know if there ever was a Record Collector feature on them? Or knows someone who has more info? Thanks.

My brother went to see The Jam at the Queen Hall in Leeds, back in 1981/82. The ticket listed the running order as ...The Jam, Rudi & a local support act.
I remember him coming home and telling me about this s****y local support band, called Red Lorry Yellow Lorry.
Typical of my brother who's taste in music has always been a bit dodgy.
I would love to know how the Lorries managed to get such a big support slot, so early in their career?

Ahhh, The Lorries! I recall mentioning to one of my dark clothed female friends back in the day that I liked the Sisters, so she suggested I check RLYL out as well, as she was convinced I'd like that too. And I did, to this day.

Thanks PiB, does anybody know when their debut album was released? I presume it was one of the first three months of 1985.

Probably much the same way as we got to support Jesus Jones all around the universe - mate in the right spot, innit!
(oh, plus talent and that)

Well... they were f**king awful by the time we got to play with em, but Liquidiser was a quality album and I'll not have it said otherwise. Next you'll be trying to tell me Ned's Atomic Dustbin were rubbish.
(I think the closet grebo infiltrator who happens to know Quiffboy and every other bloody goth over 30 in manc has just been outed...)

Never got into PWEI, don't really know why, but the Stuffies and Neds both rocked. Jesus Jones' Doubt and Perverse albums still get regular plays here. Pity their later albums were pants.

Nah - the order goes...
PWEI
Gaye Bykers on Acid
Wonderstuff (early)
Ketamine
Crazyhead
Jesus Jones (early)
Neds
Cyclic Amp
Korova Milk Bar
then way down here somewhere...
Jesus Jones (late)
And there is the entire shortlived grebo scene in a cut and keep format!
I'm very pleased to have played with four of the above and been in one. Rock yo!

I'll take your word for it. I must never have heard the early stuff then.
Oh and Ned's Atomic Dustbin ruled.

seen the poppies in every incarnation up to and including "tour/cure for sanity" -excellent band peaking with "this is...this" lp.
as a leicester boy, i know GBOA and crazyhead personally -but IMO the bomb party were our top export.
hated neds/stuffies/jesus jones.
saw the lorries supporting love and rockets (who on the day were shi
te) and the lorries were/are f**king brilliant.

Oh aye - go on then -I'l lgive you Bomb Party. They can fit in lower middle. I don't really think Swervedriver ot the Manson Slags could be classed as grebo, but others may disagree?
Besides which, if I start letting you classify all manner of bands as grebo, it'll lose me the argument that as such a tiny scene it could never survive in the same way as goth or punk or whatever with lots of bands, then I'd just have to admit that we didn't survive as a scene cos we were fundamentally s**t, and usually pissed...
