i'll play the monster, again, and suggest that cancer research is not needed but what is needed is nutritious and natural food. Sorry.

Just out of interest, how would you find out whether that is, indeed, the case? Omniscience? Or maybe you'd use, oh, I don't know, some well-honed tool that humans have discovered for uncovering knowledge; a tool called research.

*Edit: Anyway, Marie Curie Cancer Care is about looking after people who are dying, not trying to find a cure. I presume the idea of making a dying person's passage out of this world as painless as possible (for the dying person and their family) isn't against your world-view?

note the bit on the 1st post:

basically, any money you give by way of sponsorship is going to go to the agencies that support the victims of the big C, and their families.

despite what itnAklipse seems to be kicking back against, this is not money going to cancer research. i'd suggest you all ignore itnAklipse's (obvious and all too easy to make) morally abstract and emotionally empty post about fighting the causes rather than the symptoms and read the first post for what it is: someone trying to do their bit for a charity that helps eases the pain and hardship for families of cancer victims.

I'm Adam Sykes, so yes the 96 does need to be added onto the end of the link, I don't quite know why the link broke, it was acomplete line when I copied it across.

I did the swimathon laast year, but decided not to collect sponsorship. This year, I just thought if I don't have to round doors and just use t'internet then I'll do it that way.

I can vouch for the Sterling work of the Marie Curie Hospices, my Mum went in to one in Edinburgh a few days before she died of Liver Cancer, the people that work in them are Angels in my opinion

On itnAklipse's "point"... while it's blatantly obvious that a lot of cancers are caused by lifestyle, which is indeed f**ked up and needs to be sorted out at the root, prevention rather than cure....

... your comments are (as usual) evidence of fingers in the ears. There are several cancers caused by factors completely unrelated to lifestyle.

My father got prostate cancer three years ago, at the age of 55. He has run marathons and still goes rock climbing as he now approaches 60. He ate not the recommended 5 pieces of fruit and veg a day, but 7 or 8 . He's an absolute freak ! He didn't smoke, he drank very little, he wasn't remotely overweight.

My grandfather had just died of the same disease two months previously - he also lived a healthy lifestyle... Genetics were the primary factor.

But then again... having read your previous posts, maybe you reckon genetic inferiors like my father ought to be eliminated by "nature", without medical intervention... wonder if you'd refuse treatment if you got the same disease one day (and without wanting to be morbid there's a high chance you may, it's incredibly common in men in their 50's and beyond regardless of their lifestyle).

Incidentally, my father is now in perfect health, thanks to a pioneering radiotherapy treatment

You know what can cure cancer as well? You putting a sock in it.

It is proven that people are more receptive for different kinds of cancer when they are under a lot of stress and tension.

I have one nerve left and you're getting on it.
