I've searched this place as best as the search tool allows but can find next to no mention of the "the black/purple Sisters cuttings book that turns up every now and then on ebay" apart from that quote from a post by Spiggys Hat in this very place.
Does anybody know anything about the current state of it - I bought one when it first came out and I'm trying to place exactly when that was. Still gets a read or two even now - some choice quotes in there...especially with the benefit of hindsight
Oh yeah, nearly forgot - I'm known around most parts as Carpathian Psychonaut and Carpy if you wish to be informal. Pleased to make your acquaintance {doffs hat}
Couldn't believe I've lurked for so long and not posted. I suppose it's the sporadic nature of life in Sistersland - not exactly frenetic really, is it
I guess, if I'm honest, it's the remasters that have sparked me popping by and posting so no bad things really.
The "purple and black" press cuttings book.......

Ta for the welcome - there's a history behind the name and I've used it for a good few years online. In a nutshell the 'Carpathian' is a Cradle reference and the 'Psychonaut' is a Neph's one.
Far more than that to it though but I'll not bore you !

I have the scrapbook, bought via a small ad in the NME back in the 80s (sometime between 1985-9). For what it is, various articles from music publications, it's a nice production with good repro and print. As to who the creator is, I have no idea.

I see I'm not the only one unsure when - it must be after November '04 as that's when their live dates list finishes and it covers the breakup of the Sisters and the start of the Sisterhood wrangle......James Blast wrote:I have the scrapbook, bought via a small ad in the NME back in the 80s (sometime between 1985-9). What I do adore is the live ad towards the back announcing "The Sisterhood - featuring....." which then goes on to list all those that didn't eventually get use of the name. It must have been printed just as the fallout was taking place as there is the following footer on the flyer:-
"This is NOT the band with the single entitled Giving Ground currently available, nor is this band anything to do with Andrew Eldritch or Merciful Release"
Isn't hindsight delicious

have you checked the gigography their site, that line up ceases operation at the RAH gig 18/6/85, I know I bought the scrapbook around 85-9 because of the job I was in at the time and at a guesstimate no later than 86 as I stopped buying the NME thenCarpathian Psychonaut wrote:it must be after November '04 as that's when their live dates list finishes

One day I'll buy the three reissues and form an opinion or something.
If this is heaven I'm bailin' out.

I've got this as well.Carpathian Psychonaut wrote:"the black/purple Sisters cuttings book that turns up every now and then on ebay"
I asked about it ages ago here but nobody seemed to know much about it and I can't remember where I got it from.
Not much help there then...

That's the thing !
Seems it IS rare-ish then ?
I'm not about to eBay it or anything as I like it but I was curious that I never see it mentioned much. I just like reading it with the benefit of hindsight, especially some of the later gig adverts and interviews. Now we know how things went between certain people it can provide quite a bit of comedy value in a twisted sort of way.
Thanks for the update - I'll check that link out
Edit: Oh, that picture !

"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

The latest press cuttings/adverts end around June 86, so I'm assuming it was produced around that time.
I picked up my copy from fleabay a few years ago for around a fiver if I remember rightly. No sign of a gold number on my copy, but it is bloody good material for making boot covers with. Also, as CP points out, some of the interviews are hillarious with the passage of time.

Give me one good reason

Just checked mine, I've got the gold pen no.36. There's a pic (top right) on page 21 in the Razor Shock! Doom Rocker's 'Prank' Exposed!! article I've never seen anywhere else.
