Wrong!
"Peter & The Wolf" is a British-Polish co-production and Zdenek Miller's "The Little Mole" is from (as it was) Czechoslovakia
You got any other Russian Cartoons to recommend?

I only saw the 2nd half on C4 on Xmas Eve, so I watched the repeat on More 4 on New Years Eve!
It's well worth buying on DVD as the extra's are very informative.

Thanks for this. Why don't they show stuff like this in television? Why those vulgar Disney cartoons? This is good for children and good for everyone. And to hell with graphics.
This is the first animation in addition to Jan Svankmajer's works that i've ever liked much.

For once, I agree with you wholeheartedly
That was really lovely. It's the gentleness I like... too many kids are brought up now watching wham bam screaming colour and noise, this is subtle and clever. And terribly cute

no-no, that's about the West (worldwide)
our cartoons were mostly kind and cute
so the best people here are who is still pure and sincere (rhyme!)
it's important to stay children
Russia today is a dark country, where the large part of population lives in prison rules (rules, not conditions!) with jew and gay influences (Russian criminal slang comes from Yddish and everyone in prison visits his neighbour's arse - sick
)
our so called 'army' is rude, too
the same anal invasions for weaker people and near-lethal physical violence
they didn't watch cartoons, i think
Russian (Soviet) Winnie the Pooh
sorry, found no translation
some plot details are transformed for the cartoon
but the book goes the same with English original

Aye, Disney ruin (almost) everything they get their hands on.
As an aside, Tolkien sold the film, stage and merchandise rights of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to United Artists in 1968, while, guided by scepticism towards future productions, he forbade that Disney should ever be involved:
It might be advisable […] to let the Americans do what seems good to them — as long as it was possible […] to veto anything from or influenced by the Disney studios (for all whose works I have a heartfelt loathing).
