......or songs that send you back in time (not literally obviously), to certain memories.
I know it's a bit soft this kind of thing and some people don't like to admit they have emotions, but I was listening to the radio whilst at work and they played REM's "Everybody Hurts". I couldn't usually give a stuff about REM but the line -
Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on
had me welling up remembering the darker part of last year when my mum tried to commit suicide. I thought I had to post this because it still gets to me rather a lot.
songs that make you cry.....

Disapoint by Assemblage 23 brought a tear to my eye, not because of my own experience, just because the emotion was so stong that I got a feel of it.
When Brian May did Love of my Life live. What a moment.

That song upsets me for a different reason, this stanza here: If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long/when you think you've had too much of this life to hang on.Brideoffrankenstein wrote:REM's "Everybody Hurts". I couldn't usually give a stuff about REM but the line -
In each and every other stanza, he gives a reason for hanging on. But this time there is no reason.

When I was really quite close to being upset a few days back, because I felt so confused about people, I had "Drop Dead" by Diary Of Dreams playing. Almost cried then.
EDIT: Maybe it's conceited or something.. but I recorded a demo song before Tierkreis stopped recording, called "Hurt". I recorded a vocal line to it, and it moves me closer to crying listening to it. I shouldn't be affected by my own voice.

I'm a colossal softie so I really shouldn't even start, but "Feed The Birds" from Mary Poppins is one that gets me every single time.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The Cult box set brought a tear to my eye the other day.....
Dropped it on me little toe.
Apart from that the last tune to move me was probably Carlisle Road - NMA

Duran Duran - Ordinary World
William Blake - Jerusalem (under the right circumstances)
I vow to thee my country (similarly, the mood has to be right)

A rather unconventional song but for really personal reasons:
The Black Dahlia Murder - Burning The Hive
AND *drums*: Emma of our beloved Sisters. The story is so cheesy but Von's voice and the whailing guitars get to me from time to time
Good topic
Emma - the original version gets me but not as much as Spandau Ballet - Though the barricades (mainly coz I heard it around the time my Grandad died).
When I was a schoolkid Dexy's.. - Come on Eileen used to make me blub - never understood why though!
