Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. I was looking in the songs that make you cry topic and meanwhile I was listening to Nick Cave's Murder Ballads and it brought a smile to my face.
It was not just a this is a nice record smile (:)) No it was a these songs make me smile smile (:twisted:).
Is that a normal reaction? :eek:

Oooooh, Spacemen 3 time again!

"Hypnotized" is just such a beautiful warm feeling. When the trumpets come in on the second chorus it's like something truly glorious.

Ever Fallen In Love (Buzzcocks) makes me feel really good when I spin it & Shining Light by Ash.
The list does go on though. I think every CD I own has parts that "do things to me"
The Wannadies' String Song is another.

On the other end of the scale, Ben E King's Stand by Me makes me put my shoes & coat on & leave the building. Otherwise the origin of said song would meet a messy end if only never to be physically capable of playing that tripe ever again.

Tracks that have an adverse effect on me usually stem from my childhood and stir up depressing memories of dull Sundays visiting relatives in the grim grey days, songs such as:
Cilla Black - Anyone Who had a Heart
Petula Clark - Downtown
Cilla Black (yep, her again it's her fuckin' voice) - Always Something there to Remind Me
The Beatles - I Wanna Hold Your Gland (sic.), I Feel Fine, Yellow Submarine and others
Billy J. Kramer - Little Children (this one dredges up some real depressing vibes)
Del Shannon - Runaway
The Kinks - Lazy Sunday (aversion therapy has cured me of the worst effects down the years)
The Smiths - 1st album, a bad time in my life relationship wise and I still think it's their best album

I can't really think of anything (just now) modern that induces the bummers the above do although a special mention should go to old Trout Razor for A Warm Place, which induces a downer I actually can cope with as, I think it's an excellent piece of music.

I had written down some more songs/bands but its kind of tricky to put on virtual paper. Here’s a starter.

Temple of Love; it gives me strength but on a very lonely way.
System of a down; makes me feel fragile and helpless.
Paradise Lost’s Paradise Lost; this just give me power, in a way like nothing can get to me.
