Lightscribe Disks

One for the more geeky traders/burners:
I've just bought myself a new DVD Writer, which happens to support
Lightscribe disks. Does anyone know if using the Lightscribe feature to burn labels on the disk will negatively affect the data on said disk?

If you use proper Lightscribe discs it shouldn't do.
As far as I know, you can't just use bog-standard DVDs with the lightscribe thing.
Lightscribe discs seem a little more expensive than regular DVD-Rs, but not by much.

Never used them, but I do know that the coating on the label side (of a CD at least) is actually much thinner than that on the data side.

That's probably so that they'll still conform to CD standard. Doesn't the data layer have to be x amount deep into the disk?
With some unbranded CD-Rs you can scrape the data layer off the "label side" of the disk, I've found.

Yeah, I've experienced that.

I've also discovered, with the aforementioned unbranded CD-Rs, that vodka seems to be good at dissolving the adhesive that bonds the data layer to the acetate
*Edit to add: I never sent any of
those disks out in trades or weeds by the way
