ah well such is life.
appears to have self wiped either by virus or 'short circuit' (i did have to unplug it quickly the other day to lock it away to ge the train in time)

tried a few file recovery programmes from twocows but they all say there is nothing on there to recover - 0kb
(having previously recovered data from floppies and C: drives so i know it works)

any suggestions? :(

also apologies to Pista as i have no tunes with which to return the favour at the moment :|

No worries mate.
You get your drive fixed first. I have plenty to be listening too in the meantime

Ouch, I would not recommend that unless you absolutely have no choice.
