Was listening to the radio the other day and apparently there a HUGE increase in 'man boob syndrome' due to stuff like tea tree oil and lavender oils in hair, bath products.

REMEMBER boys, stick to Coal Tar soap and you'll be ok.

He seems to have gone for the "Rollins jock brother" look, though if he (finally) turns a good album out this year I'll forgive him the sartorial faux pas.

As for Murphy it's not a surprise - was front row last year for their tour in a small-ish venue and ended up about 3ft from him for most of the show. Really, really enjoyed it - although the kicks and leaps are less frequent he owns the stage as ever and his voice still does it for me even now.

Better people that look like that and make music I like than clothes horses and label hyped chancers.

Just my thoughts, of course......

Agreed on both points there. I saw the 'Haus at Brixton Academy last year and his presence was fantastic 8)

Oh Murph, Murph, Murph!

Once so sharp of cheekbone... the Thinnest Man In Rock. What happened?
Been eating too much falafel I think.
Of all the people I thought would age like a fine wine... how wrong can you be? Allah gave him the goods, there's no f**king excuse.

I'd wear black in mourning but no-one would notice the difference

Awww, it's so sad when you *wibble* like that........ :(

......but it did mean we got a good link out of it !

Bauhaus were a big part of my musical education and Murphy prowling the stage, part coiled spring and part chiselled timebomb, was a really powerful image. Stuff like "Terror Couple" and "Silent Hedges" still make up a regular listen for me. As such I mourn the loss of looks (relatively) but his voice is still commanding on many levels.

I feel your pain though and can understand it entirely.........

Nah, he's just the shortest and the grumpiest

Though he's lost his looks in a similar way. Oh... don't get me started on this...

Flower throwing. Mutton chops. Huge fur coats. Inadvisable Hawaiian shirts. What happens to certain rock stars after a certain point?

The thought that it's good to still be living gets replaced by the gradual rise into good living.

Suffering for your art turns to sitting on your arse

Na Na Na. I think he ages rather smoothly. ok, the man-boobs are dabatable but he has got a sense of style at least. unlike other messieurs that age...
I like the Peter Fonda-sunglasses. 8)

So, I would!

I posted this over in the Youtube thread last night, before this one kicked off, but it seems ideal to shift it over here now.

For those mourning Murphy, just give "Warm Leatherette a go and tell me he hasn't still got it. His voice, especially with the repetition of the lyrics, has that timbre and undertow as ever and the way he ends on the "Join......the car crash set" is just magnificent.

If your memories really want to be given a soft and gentle brush then go for "A Strange Kind Of Love" and melt like I did.

Considering how long ago those older "heyday" quoted pics and vids were he's not doing all that bad really, is he ?

No, I'll just take the voice, thanks ! :)

Part of me sits where an aesthete and a confessed romantic collide. I'm just not afraid to praise beauty in any form as and where I see fit. Just happens that, for me, a lot of the things reside in music. Murphy's voice is most certainly one of them.

His pants, I must admit, I have no opinion on
