friday science bit - how to stop light

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

i have always been a fan of science and this is just great.
basically cool matter to such an extent that it becomes 'undifferentiated'.
shine light at at in such a way that the cool matter 'records' the light.
A WHILE LATER UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS
warm the cold matter with a laser and the initial beam pops out again.

no use but great fun at parties [in a h2g2 kina way]

I just use the switch on the Wall.

Anyone wishing to see the effect in action, don't bother watching the videos on that site as it doesn't show it. :roll:
