A Merciful Release - So Will You Buy It?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Will you buy "A Merciful Release"?

I've been thinking about this and decided I will. Number of reasons. I still have the original VT reissue, so here's an opportunity to get one that ain't a Bush Kangaroo. Also, hoping that the volume levels on FALAA are sorted out. The snakeskin box makes it a highly desirable artefact to own. Finally, it's an opportunity to do my bit in showing Rhino that there is a market for a real Sisters box set, containing all the goodies we've speculated (and salivated) over elsewhere.

Anyone else?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I am boycotting any re issues and will only buy NEW material, plus like the three reissues it's not available in North America even if I felt like buying it.

Snakeskin box is all I want.

But no, I won't be buying it. Why bother? I have the albums on various media from various times. I can live without the two extra bonus demo tracks.. it's nice to know there are still tracks left I haven't got.

Yes, me getting it. No idea why. But 'why' never mattered to me that much.

PS: But now that someone said the box looks like snakeskin, i admit even i'm rethinking about it. That's just silly.

It's like a teapot. Even if it's a good teapot it will give you indigestion and other health problems if you inherently dislike it aesthetically. i had to look for mine far and wide when i broke the earlier one.

It's same really with vodka shot glasses.

Nope. I'm not going to buy all the far-less-than-half-baked reissues Rhino (which means in fact Warner) throws my way, hoping that some day, somehow they might release a proper box set of unreleased material. They're just playing with our nerves.

I'll get it, as it's The Sissies. For the same reason I bought Gift all those years ago. And it took me nearly 20 years to start liking it.
Besides, I like boxes, with or without fake snakeskin. And it's such a good feeling to buy something by The Sisters instead of making it myself. It'll look nice on the shelf, I'm bored, and I can't live on ASF alone. ;D

I bought the three reissues the day they came out (and swapped Visioin thereafter to be Skippy-less) but yes, I'll end up grabbing this too. I just know that if I don't I'll end up doing so in the future - I might as well grab it now therefore while shops have knocked the odd pound off in competition......

I'll just ask for it for my birthday :D

If it was something new, then I would easily part with heard earned folding, but, for this I would gladly sacrifice the receipt of new socks.
Cheers.

*sigh* It's just a cynical attempt to rob those of us who bought the reissues ASAP and make us buy them all again. So no.

I probably will, if only because my old-version CDs are skippy as hell after years in my godawful discman (it decided to wreck Vision Thing, and that was about the last straw - I may have savagely demolished it with a variety of garden tools).

Didn't buy the individual reissues because [s]I thought I'd get 'em for me birthday, some hope there[/s] I saw this box coming a mile off.

If I hadn't bought the re-issues, then yes.
If it had a couple of differe tracks, some way I could justify it to myself, then yes.
But seeing as its all just exactly the same as whats only recently been released then NO. Besides, I don't think it is fair on faux snakes.
I shall wait til it is in the discount bins
