Chinese Democracy was due to be released today. Hoo-feckin'-ray!
The Cape Town gig is down the road from me, has anyone who's seen the recently reckon it's worth the entrance fee?Guns N' Roses will headline South Africa's My Coke Festival in Johannesburg on April 27 and Cape Town on May 1.
..but chinese capitalism will be there before the Sisters´ next interview.Ahráyeph wrote:I'm betting that a new Sisters album will be released sooner than Chinese Democracy...
Thanks, I figured as much but it's always good to get confirmation.Ahráyeph wrote:Not really, unless you want to spend a lot of dough on a guy who leaves his audience waiting for hours on end for no particular reason and see a show which half consists of solospots of the different musicians. Face it : this is NOT G'nR. If you want some real in your face rock with a self obsessed singer heading the band, go see Velvet Revolver. At least they rock...
Whoa, Jürgen the political analyst. I was talking about the G'nR album, mein Freund, but you're right in your political analysis as well...eotunun wrote:..but chinese capitalism will be there before the Sisters´ next interview.Ahráyeph wrote:I'm betting that a new Sisters album will be released sooner than Chinese Democracy...
About the democracy, you are probably right.
Unfortunately.

I completely agree. (Saw them twice last summer) The english audience at the Download festival werent quite as patient as the Germans. They wrecked havoc in the camp area after the show. Most likely out of boredom.Ahráyeph wrote:Not really, unless you want to spend a lot of dough on a guy who leaves his audience waiting for hours on end for no particular reason and see a show which half consists of solospots of the different musicians.
Why does the name of the festival seem so appropriate here? .. so I take it you wouldnt go and waste your time on Sisters post-Marx then? I'm really not that academic when it comes to music. Of course GnR were better at the end of the 80s but so were TSOM. No TSOM concert today can match my experience in 85. Still I go and watch TSOM for the sake of it even if Herr Eldritch has lost his voice some time ago and gathers nowadays talented beginners around him. Even if its merely for nostalgic reasons. Some songs are just so good no bad play can destroy them. The last time I saw GnR was after they became this huge lard-arsed stadion-Rock-act in 91, the first time somewhere around 88 or 89 pre-AfD. très cool by then. I still have a concert video from that time. must dig it up and revel in nostalgia.Ahráyeph wrote:Did you see them in their heyday, Jess? When the band was still a real band? I think that kind of prevented me from enjoying any of their songs last summer, no matter how well they were played. I'm not saying Axl has bad musicians in his supporting band; but once you've seen the original G'nR, you just don't settle for anything less...
I first saw them at Donington 87/88? when they opened the show (and a few people unfortunately died down at the front ) and they rocked my world (to use a crappy cliche) and then I saw them at Wembley a few years later and they were slowly disappearing up their own arses! (Still excellent though!)canon docre wrote:The last time I saw GnR was after they became this huge lard-arsed stadion-Rock-act in 91, the first time somewhere around 88 or 89 pre-AfD. très cool by then.
