Yesterday

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

i didn't post this yesterday. should have.

it was the 20th anniversary of the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster at Zeebrugge. two of my friends died, and i don't think they ever did recover the bodies. i had a major crush on one of them at school..

RIP.

:( Sorry to hear you knew people on that, Ems.

I spare a thought for them when I sail in and out of Zeebrugge most years. It was a real tragedy, and there but for the grace of God...

RIP indeed.

Was before my days, but was a very big item on the news here yesterday - as it has been returning quite often for years now. What an utterly terrible disaster.

Very sorry to hear it came so close for you, Ems

I remember it very well. It was on television for many days back in those days with countries in shock.
A few months ago there was a documentary on NGC called Seconds From Disaster. It showed computer animation of how the accident actually happened and what caused it. A stupid human mistake with an impact on many lives.....even today.

May your friends and all the others rest in peace....

I remember getting on a ferry from Zeebrugge about a week afterwards and being appalled by the ghouls on the decks taking photos of the Herald.
Still annoys me now

You just hope that after the Herald , Marchioness , Bradford and Hillsborough, lessons were properly learnt and we don't get any stupid repeats.

Sorry, dear Ems. That must be a bit surreal (on top of being obviously devastating)... :(
