Ministry : creative low point ?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I'm right in the middle of a silly 84-rare-and-live-track Ministry compilation.

Is it just me or did they actually hit creative rock bottom in the mid-to-late 90s ? My God these Dark side of the spoon songs suck balls ! :urff:
Not only that, but even the "old" songs were then played quite poorly.

What's really fun on the other hand are the crazy live versions from the Land, Mind and Psalm 69 tours. They play not only Ministry tracks, but also songs by Revolting cocks (no surprise here), a whole lot of covers, and even the Lard songs ! :eek: :twisted:

Judging from the official releases and the few boots I had, I had no idea the live shows used to be that varied. Any souvenir from those now distant years ? :)

Agreed, "Dark Side..." ain't the best effort ever, and I'm gonna be shot by some here, but the "With Sympathy" thingy was utter bollox as well... :urff:

The only track I like on Dark side is this heavy-slow-dark-new-wave-ish thingy called Kaif. The rest is utter pish.

@ Blast : I quite liked Filth Pig when it came out, but in retrospect I can now say it is a very poor album with only a few good songs on it.

I think Animositisomina is a really strong album.
Feels like the natural follow up to Psalm 69.

Kicking Barker in the nadgers AND out on the streets was one of the best things that happened to Ministry. Both albums are heavy as FECK!which, for the record and complete understanding, is a GOOD thing...

I think Mind is more like a RevCo album, Chris Connolly featured heavily on it, not a bad thing in my view.

but I have to give it another listen to judge the other songs :lol: this isn't exactly my kind of music, I like it but at the same time it all sounds the same to me.
