Love it
Great with Thai food and all that, usually cover my entire plate until everything is green when we're having it
It is an acquired taste though! At first just a quarter of a leaf was more than enough for me (and that's just a couple of years ago)

Aww come on, it's bloody gorgeous on/in curries. Bit of a bugger to grow though, turn your back for 5 seconds and it goes all wierd and tasteless.

Interesting! Over here, "coriander" refers to the dried version. We call the fresh stuff "cilantro". And there's no such thing as too much of it, for me. MMMMMMM. Although I do agree that it's a bit of an acquired taste...

Utterly rancid - it tastes like weeds (which I maintain it is).
Sage, now there's a herb
as the day is long,
rain from heaven
rain from heaven
And the dried seeds taste totally different than fresh leaves. I love the dried version but hate the fresh stuff.SINsister wrote:Interesting! Over here, "coriander" refers to the dried version. Ok, so how about a new 'Herbs and Spices' section, in the same vein as the previous 'tours' section - with one entry for each herb or spice.
That way we can each discuss our favourite culinary accompaniment without distraction.
I for one would be very interested in a bay leaf thread, but dont want to have to negotiate my way past the fennel posts...
perhaps i havent been getting enough sleep lately.......

And yes, it does (love it in Indian & Mexican foods!), but the scent does tend to mimic that of unwashed armpits...

Ooh marvellous, this thread has expanded beyond its original confines.
Thus I feel safe and happy to announce that Garam Masala is the mother of all indian spices
Never tried any dill, and always wanted to, just to see if it was rather small and furry and always in a hurry.
