Wait here, how can I make some sharp comment
without sounding like I always pick on the Mish ?
Truth is, I couldn't care less but it's always fun to have the usual suspects around, isn't it ?

Looks like a cunning exercise in "how to derail the new Mish LP" to me.

I know it's not the coolest thing to say in this place (I've never been the sort to strive towards that kind of badge) but I reckon I'll pick up these as well as the AAE ones.
For the time and place, albeit good or flawed as the may have been, they hold various memories for me and to get some nicely polished versions rather than my somewhat trashed (parties, you know the score) originals.
Do I get sent to HeartLand Coventry for that ?

Nah man, I'll probably pick them up too.

Back in 1986 when the Sisterhood became the Mishun ( I was at the Birmingham Powerhouse show, along with Mr Eldritch and Ms Morrison) who would of thought the band, now 21 years later would be re-releasing material that the majority of people already own. O.k , you may get the Slaughterhouse version of this and the Tim Palmer version of that- but do you really care anymore? If these songs were such gems back then - surely they would of seen the light of day when they meant something to their fans. The songs they are proudly presenting aren't even any of their best work - Bridges Burning was only really played on the Chapter one tour and GOM - after that it had a very rare outing now and then.
If these bands really cared about their fans they should give them what the y really want - a barnstorming live album - not remastered and polished up with over dubs and fake crowd noises. But something loud, brash and raw.
The Sisters at Leeds University during the FALAA tour was just that. The Mishun at the Ritz in Manchester where the whole room was literally bouncing due to the sprung dance floor there!
No one really wants stuff that was deemed not good enough to go on the album or single in the first place - cos if it was bollocks then it's going to be bollocks now.
When a band starts to release their back catalogue, and try and market it as something every fan must have - that's when the band has realised that the well has indeed began to run dry. Which is a shame cos the Mishun were one the greatest live acts ever to grace a stage. And no you can't argue with me on that, so there
Keep the faith and Keep your money in your pocket kids

Nah, get yourself down here in the bunker - I've just put the kettle on and have plenty of provisions for the war (now currently nearly 22 years old

Is it what you're thinking about ?
I kinda like it though.
No one really wants stuff that was deemed not good enough to go on the album or single in the first place - cos if it was bollocks then it's going to be bollocks now.
Can't argue with that, except that :
- sometimes a decent song doesn't get released, not because it's not good enough, but because the timing isn't right, or it just doesn't fit the general mood of the album, or because the record company thinks it'd be commercial suicide to release three albums over a two-year span ;
- being the good - or dumb - fans that we are, we'll keep on buying "deluxe" reissues featuring previously unreleased tracks anyway.
Even if we know we sometimes shouldn't.

No snow, is an excellent cd BUT :
it s made up from 2 different shows which isnt imho
a good thing
and it misses several tracks that deserved to be on this.
worth every cent though

disagree totally with this....i think that 99% of the gems are still unreleased nowdays
Im very happy to listen an old demo or an unreleased song that was rejected on the gold years (i.e SKOS demo on recently reissue) as on the most of time are the better songs
same regards the sisters : I DONT WANT A NEW SISTERS ALBUM !!!
but want that mr Eldo open his loft for to get old unreleased songs or demos of classics (what happened to unreleased version of 9W9 ?)
I like very much the last Mish/AAe compilations as featuring some never hear before demos that are simply amazing (Hands across for I.e)
Ill buy the new AAE/Mish released as meet as I need actually

Yeah,
who'd have thought..

The same could be said about the full-length Neverland.

Oh, and Rosetta Stone never did that, now, did they?

If I recall correctly, there were quite a handful of different mixes of the earlier stuff.
At the time, I thought it a cynical attempt to get themselves on TOTP (wooh), but there were numerous versions of Crystal Ocean, Like a Hurricaine, Tower Of Strength, etc..
Don't see all those appearing on this set.
Now, If I were the record company, I would think long & hard about these tracks that have never been on cd before & put those ahead of the bits of debris that never saw the light of day originally.

I accept your passion to get your mits on 'unreleased and demo' versions of songs. I have Ghost dance, m*****n, AAE demo stuff that was handed out to members of the original God Squad before it was put to vinyl. And, yes it's nice to own - it's scratchy, raw and served it's purposes as being for demonstration purposes only And back in the late 1980's it was a very credible thing to own such tapes.
My concern is that if indeed the original 'demo' version of a song was that good - why wasn't it 'that' version that made it to the final product.
The Mishun's version of Nut Bush City Limits sung by Craig Adams at a sound check (Bad Salzuflen( ?) sorry about the spelling, Germany 1986 - which I wish I'd taped) and their version of Alice at a Newcastle sound check would better preserved on disc and sold as a 'classic unearthed' gem than a song that was discarded in favour of another version that was deemed better. But yes, you can have the two, but I've always believed that the Mish were a band of the people and if they felt something was worthy to release it made it. And to release such material some 21 years later just seems to me that they've had to do such a thing to maintain record sales. Selling the original product wouldn't be enough in this day and age. To sustain some sort of substance they have had to graft on a few tunes that were deemed unworthy at the time when everyone would of bought a blank disc just cos it had the name the m*****n on it.
Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I never like it when a band, whose trusted and loyal fan base has stuck with them since even before day one - has to resort to such marketing ploys just to maintain their name. I always thought Wayne was above that.
Me, I'm going to listen to an old m*****n tape, smile, sing along and try not to look in the mirror any time soon - 21 years - it's a life time gone. But It's one I'd of never of changed a thing about.

Doing that made me sick, it was cheap and an insult to the fans at the time. The constant rehashing of the track Adrenaline also didn't sit well with me. Yes it was a good song, but do you really need to release it again and again under different names with the odd tweek here and there?
I can't and won't defend the thought behind that decision. I just feel sad for the people who felt they had to buy the song over and over again just to satisfy their record collection.

yes but sometime cause editing due time lenght or producers pressure "kill" totally a song respect the original demo
the classic example is this Corrossion : if you hear the 86 Fairview demo without any chorus or female backing vocals and then listen the aborted version due Jim S pression, the result is clear....isnt it ?
this is just a my opinion.........
When back in oct 1987 listen the tc single for the first time, I stop to listen sisters for a couple of years, after this I stop definitively to follow them
and passed to Mish in dept until 1989 Carved in sand release.
All my memories , feeling ect ends the 18 june 85

So (and sorry, cause I've never heard it), is it really just the studio track with crowd noise?
I wasn't having a dig, Ramone, just pointing out that, as you seem to know only too well, other bands are guilty of far worse fan abuse as far as rereleases and poor quality albums go.

The main reasons demos/etc are of interest is cos it's the band trying out stuff, not being afraid to experiment and do something different, and often without the over-cautious hand of a major record label to restrain them. They can also provide fascinating insights into the evolution of a song, and there is a type of fan who is genuinely interested in that kind of thing. OK, it's not for all, but then everyone's different and that's part of what makes the world go round.
Me, I'll be buying these.
Not that I'm a major Mish-head, cos I'm not, and not cos I approve of Wayne's lyrics and actions, cos I don't, but because this is the band that used to be the Sisters, back when they were worth giving even half a damn about.
I know not everybody feels the same way about that, but that's my reason and I'm content enough with it.

I bought every mix, for completeness sake. Don't feel sad for me, I like my little collection of Adrenaline Mixes
Under the Rose was the STORMING live album I think. Makes me shiver. I wish I'd been there.
Must. Not. Talk. About. Rosetta. Stone. For. Hours.
I actually don't have any Sisters live concerts, save Wake. Any really good ones that someone could recomend/link me to?

I think the main reason we are getting all these re-issues T'Mish, Sisters, Eves etc is nothing to do with the bands.
The record companies these days are loosing money hand over fist due to modern technology and are having to revisit their back catalogue as a way of gernerating revenue.
If memory serves me correctly Wayne said he was approached by the record company with regards to re-releasing the early albums. I believe Wayne was consulted regarding track listing and has also supplied sleeve notes.
In addition T'Mish are releasing new material. Whether it matches the classic stuff is a mute point really. At least something is coming out. I just wish
would take a leaf out of Waynes book.
