Posting a poster

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I have this large poster (101x151 cm) advertising the Royal Albert Hall concert, and was wondering if these were actually used to promote the gig or if it's a fake. Not that it matters much, it's been on my wall for ages and I love it, but I've always wondered.

They were indeed but yours might still be a fake. I obviously hope it's not. :)

Perhaps you could post a bigger picture in the gallery section ? 'd be very nice of you. :notworthy: 8)

I had one similar to that too. It was a bit bigger though, over 2m high and had a white border around the edge. Picked it up at a Sisters convention at Leeds Astoria way back circa '89 if memory serves me right. Damn fine poster too. Had quite a few large Mish posters up at the time also but they all looked a bit twee in the same room as this monster

Thanks for clearing that up. Nice to know it's at least similar to the ones actually used. Fake or not, it certainly is striking. I've had it hanging at my workplace and I was surprised at the amount of comments. Powerful imagery going on :)

Uploaded. I included a snap of my Reptile House poster too, although I think it's hideous. Shocking pink? What were they thinking? What was I thinking when I bought it?

Very nice. I have one of those as well, regular poster measurements but with a white border around the edge.

On the matter of posters, I grabbed one of ebay that made me laugh hard. Seems to be a Detroit 06 one.

Damn, that looks cool. Anyone ever get one of those pics from the 2006 tour which looked completely trippy (think it was the Vegas gig one)?
I wanted one of those quite badly.

my albert hall poster is 5' x 3' 6" (that's feet and inches, mainlanders-buggered if i can convert that to metric off the top of my head).
i bought it in late '85 and they weren't at all the real deal, as they had . "altamont: a festival of rememberance" and "silence is platinum" etc slogans at the bottom. however they are f**king awesome. i've also got a floodland (album cover) one the same size and until my two year old ripped it to shreds (anyone else would pushing up daisies by now) i had a vision thing (iffy band photo) one as well.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

i thought mr.blast and SINny were on about my post then -a hasty back-track found this, and i find myself once again wondering whether we secretly threw the war of independece (figuring any country that can't speak it's own national language were automatically one-down to about 42 welshmen, that professor stanly unwin guy and brummies...

** exemptions to my completely fictional dislike of americans being of course SINsister, martin petseri(and any other hard-to-bring-to-mind-but-doubtless existing cool US HLers ); jello biafra ;and christina aguilera.
and "south park".
