Am going to watch the Sisters in Manchester, but I'm a bit annoyed at the fact that they are charging 20 quid (without the booking fee) for tickets; frankly I think we're being ripped off. I absolutely adore the sisters and think von is the best British songwriter since Bowie, and I have spent a small fortune over the years on their CDs, T-shirts, tickets etc. So I don't see why I should have to pay through the nose to see them live.
I know most who read this will not agree. Some older bands charge a lot more than 20 quid, and yes, I'd see the Sisters live even if they charged 200 pounds, but that isn't the point.
I'm aware that staging a concert isn't cheap, but the venues they are playing on the april tour each hold around 1,500 people- there's no need to charge 20 notes in order to make a profit. I don't understand why Andrew Eldritch thinks it's O.K. for his long-term fans to shell out so much just to keep him in shades and fags, especially when they've had virtually the same setlist for the last 3 or 4 tours.

I know where you're coming from, but as a promoter myself, I'm rarely suprised by ticket prices anymore. With the Sisters in smaller venues these days, it's difficult to get the ticket price down below the £20 mark, especially as they (quite rightly) insist on a high grade production (though why we can NEVER hear the vocals clearly eludes me!). I was recently offered Public Enemy for a very reasonable price, but with venue sizes in Nottingham topping off at around 1500-1700 (excluding the 12000 seater ice stadium) it would have been immpossible to make more than about £500 between two people for a months work and a lot of stress. At the moment as a smalltime promoter I like to think I dfo it for the love of it (which is admittedly bollocks half the time) People like Stargreen and Mean Fiddler don't have that much time for such considerations I imagine. With the lights, sound, security, hotels, catering, transport etc etc etc it all really adds up. If an artist is on tour, most of these costs are reduced, but not by that much, and in the end, with most clubs charging £8-£10 quid for entrance these days, I think a few more quid to see one of the best fuggin' Rock N' Roll bands to tread the boards in the UK isn't too shabby.

It's not that I resent it, and wold never let it stop me but when I think about it, it's a bit pricy. Especially when you buy tickets for both nights of leeds for you and girlf. It adds up!

you should see my credit card statement for last month - tix for the upcoming tour account for the best part of £400...

Looking at other shows at the venues they're playing, Sisters is about £5 more expensive than the average gig.

Considering the greater number of people in most of the other acts would make their on the road costs higher for starters, Von better bring lots of smoke and lights!!!!!!

It took a good 18 months to stop wincing everytime I bought tickets at £20 - but frankly if I want to see a band that's what you have to do.

Had a treat the other week and scooted over to Sheffield to see Echoboy (supported Puressence on the last tour...singer/guitarist/songwrriter Richard was asked to play in Oasis blah di blah) and the promoter was putting them on free!! Free I tell you now I know they aren't huge (yet) but still I 'd expected to pay, it was a really nice surprise.

I will pay whatever it costs,......but my REAL bugbear is those Booking Fees which you don't pay for the one time you book..oh by Jiminee no, which you pay PER ticket ..and just when you've recovered from the £2.50 booking fee and have mentally totted it up in your head their final figure bears no resemblence as they forgot to tell you it actually costs yet another £1.95 to stick them in a frikking envelope!!!!

To be fair, though, they have been charging £20 for the last few years.
So, with inflation, they're not quite as over-priced as they used to be.

Speaking of sisters gigs, My (female) mate was once chatted up at one in Manc by a skinny nutter in a Bauhaus T-shirt who Used the memorable line "I'm a vampire, by the way" before trying to kiss her

Just to add my "two peneth worth" - I dont mind paying £20.00 to see The Sisters. I kinda resent paying £2.75 "booking fee" - what can I do!

What I REALLY dont like is being charged £4.70 for Postage and Packing - and then its a 2nd class stamp for F**** Sake! There is simply no justification!

Actually, that's a very good point. Does anyone know of any ticket sales sites etc that are well used but not a rip off We're in need of one here at work as I'm fed up of people getting their ticket prices bumped up by over a fiver when it's the Artist/Venue/promoters/Crew who do all the work, and the blimmin call centre gets all the money
