asked him about when he was in Sisters, he said: "I definitely played a York University show early in 1982 (I think). but I was in them twice - playing Synth first time round and bass later while Craig ran off to the Canary Islands"

John Langford filled in for Craig at York University on 5th Feb 82. (There's no recording, unless Eldo has it in his archives.) That'd be the "York University show early in 1982".
As for an earlier appearance ("first time round") playing Synth? That'd probably be in 1981 then?

I think "first time round" must refer to 1982 concerts. Craig "ran off to the Canary Islands" some time '84, the bass on a couple of the b-sides for the FALAA singles is synth-bass. So maybe Jon Langford filled in around that time too?
(I'm basing this on hazy recollections of things mainly PiB and Ramone have said.)

I'm sure that I read an interview with JL, where he claims that he attended a photo shoot during his time in the Sisters. He said it was around the time of Body Electric & Von gave him the simple instruction.... "Wear something black".
Do these pictures exist anywhere in cyberspace?

Why did Craig walk away and then come back? I still don't get it...

Someone once told me the reason but I forgot it. Maybe something like holidaying for a few months somewhere in Europe.

Interview with Jon from Pitchfork Media
Jon Langford wrote:
A few years back, I got into those Soul Jazz compilations. That one really surprised me. Going back to the John Peel days, he pushed that record. It actually became number one on the British charts. Everyone knows that song. I never owned it. My cousin in Leeds burned me two volumes of the Soul Jazz Dynamite series. It was off one of those, and I thought, "What a brilliant record!" They basically came off the street saying, "We made up a rhyme; give us a backing track." That's nothing to do with me being 45, though. I accidentally found it at that time.

Did Von really call himself Spiggy back then? (There's an Indiana Jones joke in there somewhere.)
