Rude presenters

I love presenters/ interviewers that are rude to people. Simon Amstell taking the p*ss out of ordinary Preston and Donny Tourrete was hilarious.

Here's Alexa Chung interviewing emo fools Panic at the disco. Rude and gorgeous, perfect.

I do not like rude interviewers.

They are on telly or in the papers or whatever, they have a bit of a role-model hence rudeness is not an option.

By the way, if people were only a bit nicer toward each other, the world would be a nicer place altogether.

... but that was f**king genius! :notworthy:

(I do understand what you're saying Izzy, but these jumped up little nobodies do need to have their egos pricked every so often...)

Being rude to someone stupid doesn't make you any more clever. :innocent:

Role models?! Pfffffffft. "On telly or in the papers" is precisely why I ignore the lot of them. I'm not interested. ;D

No, but it makes for great entertainment.

For some, I suppose. At any rate, what has this interviewer done of note, besides being a b1tch?

Sometimes it does, yes, but I'm still an old-fashioned guy that loves the idea of a perfect world with nice people. ;)

We've had semi-pornographic, ultra-violent, voyeuristic telly up till now, and I see a tendency on a lot of (mostly music)channels to become rude and unpolite to bands and people in general. The fact that they deserve it or not is no excuse IMO. It is another cheap form of attention-seeking and hyping. Do your job and try to do it good. Interviewing needs some form of respect towards the artist.

When being rude becomes the standard for entertainment, I'll pass, thank you :|

End of rant ;D

Just look outside HL and you'll find many souls to support your case, unfortunately. :|

Sorry, sometimes I just can't stop being serious. Just like Izzy, I'm dreaming of a perfect world, with no war, no famine, no moronic TV shows...

Nothing at all wrong with that sentiment but in this case, although I dont have a clue who the 'band' are, they struck me as a pair of fcukwit, braindead ar5ewipes who seriously did need taking down a peg or two!

They should go and get reinforcements.

Anyone remember that stupid bint off the tube interviewing Martin Degville?
Or, should I say "trying to interview him"?

IMHO, the folks who queue up to gleefully watch people (anyone, I don't care who it is or what they do) being raked over the coals disrespectfully and with obvious malice aforethought are akin to the folks who cheered the horrendously-violent deaths of slaves and gladiators in ancient Rome. Lowest-common-denominator knuckle-draggers, all of them. And ya know, it takes an especially "big" person to be able to put others down for a living. Jealous much, sir? Talentless w@nker. UGH.  :von:

The only thing is, with John Lydon, the tables are almost completely turned and he gives the interviewer hell  . With panache, IMO (on most occasions) :notworthy:

Agreed.

But ... I think the whole being rude to / lightly taking the p*ss out of bands / popsicles on TV was (at least on the original Popworld with Simon and Miquita) as a reaction against the worshipping and fawning over everything these celebrities do which has probably as bad consequences for the world when we're talking about Girls Aloud and Gwen Stefani. (Tho' I do like her hair and shoes - I wish she would kind of shut up.)

I'm not into worshipping or fawning over either side. For me, there's a huge difference between tongue-in-cheek taking of the p1ss and outright boorishness, though. In the Clive vs. Bee Gees "interview," Clive's haranguing is incessant, the barbs never stop, and he never lets the poor guys (who seem like affable chaps, despite their fame) get a word in edgewise. There's an art to intelligent sarcasm and gentle gibing; some degree of self-deprecation is also probably necessary for survival in the spotlight. Regardless, I saw no "balance" here - Clive behaved purely like a jerk.
