"signed bootlegs" sold by a frenchman... the signature isn't even close to Von's classic signature, the worst part is that he obviously make some money out of it

I have more than 3000 records and 600-700 are signed by many artists meet in Paris before or after their show.
He doesn't say the records were signed
by those who made them.

I've much the same sig on a copy of
Obscure in Darkness (Frankfurt 85) - in pen on the inner sleeve - that I bought years ago. Luckily I didn't pay anything over the odds for it, but it does show that it's been going on for years now.

Would it be an idea to put some scans of known genuine autographs into the imagebank, just so folks can have a reference to compare with when thinking about whether or not to buy something like this?

Edit: Incidentally, I've a signed copy of Gary's Pretty Black Dots sampler. Is this the norm or did I get something different there?

Or for reference when we'd want to boost the value of our own records
Kidding, obviously

come on now, you wouldn't really expect him to spend 3 hours taking pictures just to prove something, would you

FWIW IMO all these signature / autographs (including the SGWBM sample) lie within a reasonable range for being genuine.
OK I'm not a handwriting expert. But a signature is a lot harder to do a convincing fake of than it looks. Just try for yourselves...

The end part of
Eldritch in the first one looks spot on to me.
I have a couple of signed original albums.
