Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.
White text on a dark background is much easier on the eyes than vice-versa (cuts out glare, etc.). Too bad books aren't printed this way - sadly, the ink costs would be astronomical, probably...

that's not strictly true (designer hat on)
yes it would cost a lot more in ink but the eye does tire when reading and it tires faster when the text is white on black, it's also easier to scan lines when they are black on white

Ugh. Well maybe (*maybe?!*) I'm just wired differently than the rest of you lot, then. I prefer light text on a dark background, it's far more soothing and far less harsh than the reverse. And I went back and re-sampled all of the forum themes just now - CHRIST, my poor retinas! I can't stand yellow/gold/orange, so I'm sticking with my tried-and-true black and brushed-metal Industrial Groove Machine, thankyouverymuch!
we he/she/it started it with the "myheartland vision forum" bit, c'mon!
