Sadly it's prevalent in the UK as well:
This is just the latest Vermin Patrol report (if you click the "Vermin" link on the top menu you'll find a long list of reports going back through the years, detailing prosecutions for dog-fighting, badger-baiting and other acts of animal cruelty.)

You see a lot of these types of dogs where I live but I have no evidence that they are any more than loving pets

A slight warning for us animal lovers would have been appreciated!
Being the owner of what is often referred to as a 'fighting dog' these sort of pictures, and people, upsets me greatly!
I know we need to know whats going on but a bit of warning perhaps?
