Seeing a doc deffinately sounds like a good idea, Ems.
He'll tell you.
As it's still that bad it sounds like it is broken, I fear..
(Sorry Claire, I have to dedicate some of my crossed limbs to Ems now..)

The human pretzel's right Ems, best get it checked out.

Though I'm not entirely sure what they actually do with a broken nose. Bandage and splint? Plaster cast...?

Aluminium bridge over the nose and bandage, yes.

Depending on the damage of course.

IZ.

they usually insert a 6" lead pipe up each nostril and bang them home, you only have to sport them for about a month ;D

If you hold the bridge of your nose between thumb and forefinger, and give it a wiggle, do you feel the cracked edges of the cartiledge scraping together? You're looking for an intense bright sharp pain, rather than the dull pain of a bruise. The crepitas test - best method of self-diagnosis for broken bones and things.
If you do, then it's busted.
What to do? If it's busted, go see your doc quickly before it heals in a wonky direction so he can straighten it and make sure it heals properly. Or if you're happy with a potentially wonky nose, leave it to heal on its own.
Look on the bright side - if you've always wanted to have your nose done, now would be the time to do it. 8)

Edit - it's not the end of the world if you leave it to heal on its own and it goes wonky - they can always rebreak it and straighten it (depending on where you are, your insurance might not cover it, though). What they do is they take a little steel chisel, stick it up your nose, then tap it with a little hammer. This breaks the septum and lets them straighten your schnozz. It's normally done under local anaesthetic, so you're concious throughout.
Don't like the sound of it? Go see your nose guy today - please? :D

wot he said, if it has to be reset nows the time for them to do it :urff:
if the thought of even attempting the test is too much its definitely broken.
