All the hip cats on the corner
They don't look sharp no more
Coz all the good times is over
And the squares don't have no dough

Jimmy Witherspoon 1947

Quite prophetic eh folks? ... Perhaps Politicians, Bankers, Savers & those unlucky enough to have mortgages should remember their history? ;)

We were overdue a financial crisis anyway, the only surprise was so many people putting in for a no-strings account! Silver Savers indeed. :?

Northern Rock -- the first of many?

This is what happens when banks lend money to people (or institutions) who can't afford to borrow it... Britain is heading for a debt crisis IMO.

Yes Mark my wise friend! - We think alike again! - Presumably you are not a Newcastle Utd fan either? :innocent: - they must feel like hiding?
- not that my team are anything to 'write home about', so I will keep quiet about them for now

As for the debt crisis - oh yes indeedio ... & we are only 'storing up' an almighty crash by 'shoring up' the present bad credit - so I guess we will be watching this space 'with interest' (whoops excuse that 'pun' - Ho Ho Ho) - a bit like watching a road accident in slow motion eh? - I think it is called Fatal Fascination?

Strange times we live in my fiendish friend - could make a good lyric for a song?!

Cricket?
- I trust your chosen team are not sponsored by the Northern Wreck?
Speaking of whom - Do you have any thoughts about their outrageous plan to pay a 'dividend' (?) to their shareholders??? ... I'm lost for words ...

Tell your Mrs the Toffees are OK - just so long as she ain't a Gooner!
- Oh, suggestions please to Sinnie about which female team she should play for? - I'm sure we would all support her on this, it could be quite a spectacle with a posse of Heartlanders in the crowd ... just imagine it?
